When we last saw
The CW's hit series,
The Flash, things had gotten pretty wild.
Harrison Wells had been revealed to be
Eobard Thawne, an evil speedster from the future, his ancestor
Eddie Thawne shot himself to safe
Team Flash, and a giant wormhole had opened up over
Central City and threatened to destroy
EVERYTHING! We learnt recently that when the new season picks up, we'll be seeing six months after the events of the finale, and as you can expect, a few things have changed.
One of the most notable of these changes is that
Iris West, daughter of Detective
Joe West, and best friend of
Barry Allen, will be stepping up to fill the leadership role left empty by
Harrison Wells/Eobard Thawne's absence. According to
EW, Executive Producer
Andrew Kreisberg had this to say:
"Iris slides into [the role] very naturally. She's a born leader. One of the best things in the premiere is Barry decides that he wants to work alone because he doesn't want to risk anyone else's lives, and Iris is really the one who gets the band back together again. She's the only one who can stand up to Barry"
Well, that certainly sounds like a massive upgrade from being character who REALLY should have figured out
Barry's secret ages ago, but is still the only one who doesn't know that she was last season. But another interesting thing about this is the part about "getting the band back together again" and "
Barry decides to work alone". It would seem that by the time the season picks up, it'll be much like the premiere episode of
Arrow's second season, in which the team had disbanded following
The Undertaking. The notable difference being that this time, the title character hasn't given up on his superheroic activities.
What do you guys think of the idea of
Iris stepping up into the leadership position? And what is your opinion on the whole "
Team Flash has disbanded and need to be brought back together again" aspect of the premiere? Let me know in the comments below, and be sure to share and hit that thumbs up!
