The Flash star Ezra Miller made their first public appearance in quite a while tonight to walk the red carpet at the movie's world premiere in Hollywood. The actor has been involved in numerous incidents over the past year or so, which brought a lot of negative attention to the Scarlet Speedster's first solo outing.
Though Miller didn't address their behaviour or the allegations made against them directly, they did make a brief statement to the press in attendance.
“I love you, maestro. I think you are amazing, and I think your work is monumental,” Miller said to director Andy Muschietti. They also thanked Warners film bosses Pamela Abdy and Michael De Luca, Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder, and "dynamic duo" James Gunn and Peter Safran for "your grace and discernment and care in the context of my life and in bringing this moment actually to fruition."
It remains to be seen if Miller will stay on as Barry Allen in the DCU, but their return may be more dependent on how The Flash performs at the box office than the public's perception of its star.
"Directed by Andy Muschietti, The Flash features Barry Allen traveling back in time in order to change events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to help. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian…albeit not the one he’s looking for.
Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?"
The Flash is produced by Barbara Muschietti and Michael Disco, with a screenplay by Christina Hodson, and a screen story by John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein and Joby Harold, based on characters from DC. Warner Bros. Pictures presents a Double Dream/a Disco Factory production of an Andy Muschietti film.
