First Agent Coulson, Now Odin Goes To Tahiti?

"Tahiti. It's a magical place." That's what Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) says on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. whenever the subject of his downtime after getting stabbed in the chest by Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is broached. Now Odin (Anthony Hopkins) is saying something similar. Spoilers

Coulson and Odin in Tahiti Marvel Cinematic Universe

Many people assume Agent Coulson is an LMD on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. It was very clear that Coulson was dead and even he thinks something is amiss as he's ordering physical examinations on himself and trying to access his personal file. But what if mysticism is involved? In Thor: The Dark World, the fate of Odin is left in an ambiguous state due to actions by Loki. In a new interview with HeroComplex, Odin himself, Anthony Hopkins may have revealed an interesting clue about what happens to people when Loki kills them.

On Odin's fate at the end of Thor: The Dark World and what it means for Thor 3?

Anthony Hopkins: "I’m not sure. He hasn’t physically died on screen, but I played him as a man who’s on his way out. I think they would have to explain in “Thor 3,” if there is one, what happens to Odin. Or maybe it’ll just be a story line, maybe he went to Tahiti or something for a holiday. I don’t know."

Oh, I'm pretty sure you know Hopkins. The Academy Award winning actor doesn't strike me as someone particularly interested in comic books or who would watch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (heck, he didn't read the entire script for Thor: The Dark World, he only learned Odin's lines). So unless this is an extremely unlikely coincidence, Tahiti may actually really be a "magical place" in the MCU.

I dont think Odin is dead

If u notice during the scene after the invasion when he and Thor are discussing what to do next, Odin pauses and cringes for a second. kind of like how he did when he and Loki were arguing in the first film before he went into the Odinsleep.

My guess is when Loki, disguised as the guard, reported back to Odin about his " death ", he slipped back into the Odinsleep, and with Loki as the guard being the only one around to help him, Loki saw his chance to lock up Odin somewhere while he sleeps with no one else aware of it and disguise himself as Odin now.

When Odin does awaken, he will realize what Loki has done...but Loki will be long gone before his ruse can be revealed to everyone else.

In Norse mythology one of the areas in Hel is called "Hitåti", rough translation "This other side" (hitåt = this way).

Hitåti, if å = a, is an anagram for Tahiti.

On ARROW..Oliver's sexy secretary Felicity joked they were flying off to "Tahiti".
Was that an inside joke referring to the SHIELD show.
Was it a coincidence?..I like to think it was on purpose.

I agree with Bane 5000. It will be something like that. and as for the Tahiti comment. I think Odin is just messing around, and we shouldn't take it to seriously. He knows about agent Coulson and the Tahiti story so he is just teasing and joking around/

Odin is dead. Deal with it. He was half dead throughout the movie, which was why he was pushing for Thor to be king finally.

Loki just helped him along to cross to the other side.

I don't think odin is dead I think maybe loki has him tied-up or something, I doubt they'd leave something as important as odin's death out

You guys are reading too much into this IMO. Tahiti's a common resort/vacation place. That's all Hopkins meant. It was a joke and you guys think it's a conspiracy. XD

At least I'm 99.9% sure I'm right. But that leaves that .1%... maybe...

I really didn't like the ending of this. I thought it would end way more poignant if Loki died a redeemed man. It seemed from the tone that it truly was the end of him but did someone pull the punch and say "no, i changed my mind. lets slap on an ending where Odin disappears and Loki takes his place".....dumb is all i can say. How did Loki take down Odin....i mean....hes Odin?!? Anyway....if not for this i would have thought Thor 2 was mint.

If Hopkins doesn't want to come back, Odin will stay dead, if he does return he'll be alive by the time the third film is made. I doubt he'll return judging by his performance and recent comments on the "Odin" issue.
