Although Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok is widely regarded as a successful installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by fans and critics alike, there are some who feel the more light-hearted depictions of The God of Thunder and The Incredible Hulk do a disservice to the characters.
As it turns out, one of the movie's stars expressed concerns about the very same thing while shooting.
During an appearance at ACE Comic Con over the weekend, Chris Hemsworth recalled filming a funny, mostly improvised scene with costars Tessa Thompson, Tom Hiddleston and Mark Ruffalo (remember the snake story?). The actor revealed that while everyone was having fun with the material, Ruffalo and franchise newcomer Thompson were a little unsure about the the comedic tone.
“I remember Mark Ruffalo looking at me and saying, ‘Are we wrecking this movie? Are we destroying these characters?’ Tessa was like, ‘What am I apart of? What am I doing?’”
Hemsworth, however, was convinced they were on the right track, and was very pleased with the mostly positive response. “I wanted it to work so badly and I knew that we left everything on the field, so I had such a positive feeling about our approach to making that movie,” he added.
What did you guys make of Thor: Ragnarok? Do you think it "ruinded" the characters by adding the comedic element, or was it something Thor, in particular, needed to make him seem a little less bland? Drop us a comment in the usual place.
