Natalie Portman Confirms She's Not In THOR: RAGNAROK; Reckons She's "Done" With MARVEL
Was Thor: The Dark World the last time we'll see Jane Foster? Natalie Portman seems to think so in this new video interview, where she assures us she's not returning for the third installment.
With the recent news that the Warriors Three will indeed be returning for Thor: Ragnarok, Natalie Portman was asked to confirm whether or not she will be reprising her role as astrophysicist (and the God of Thunder’s main squeeze here on Earth) Jane Foster. After reassuring the Wall Street Journal that she’s not, the Academy Award-winning actress was then asked whether or not she’ll return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future.
“As far as I know, I’m done,” Portman said during the video interview. “I don’t know if, maybe, one day they’ll ask for an Avengers 7 or whatever. I have no idea! But as far as I know I’m done.” She then said that her overall experience playing Jane Foster “was all great” and that she’s thankful to have been a part of the ever-growing shared universe.
We last heard during Avengers: Age of Ultron that Jane Foster was a candidate for the Nobel prize for her work in astrophysics, but we do not yet know how her absence during Thor: Ragnarok will be explained. We may not even need an explanation given the plot is said to take place mostly on the eight other realms of Norse mythology (however, according to recent filming notices, there will be scenes filmed on the streets of Australia next week). Anyhow, you can watch the very beginning of Natalie Portman’s WSJ video interview below.
Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi, and it stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Idris Elba (Heimdall), Sir Anthony Hopkins (Odin), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Karl Urban (Skurge), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), with Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster) and Cate Blanchett (Hela). And Thor: Ragnarok is set to open in theaters on November 3, 2017.
