THOR: RAGNAROK Director Taika Waititi Explains Why The Movie Went From Being 100 Minutes To 130

During Comic-Con, Taika Waititi made some shocking remarks when he revealed that Thor: Ragnarok would only run for around 90 - 100 minutes. Now, the filmmaker reveals why that ultimately ended up changing.

During this year's Comic-Con, Taika Waititi suggested that the final cut of Thor: Ragnarok would wind up being around 100 minutes long. That's extremely short for a superhero movie and it left a lot of fans fretting over the possibility that it wouldn't be able to do what should be an epic story justice. In reality, the threequel is two hours and ten minutes long so what changed over the past few months?

"There was a time when it was going to be 100 minutes," Waititi confirmed in a recent interview. "We were at about 100 minutes [around Comic Con]. We had just done our reshoots, so we knew it was going to come up from there, but there was a world where I thought it was going to sit around 100, no more than two hours." Rather than action, we have humour to thank for those extra minutes!

"After Comic Con, we decided to put a lot of the jokes back in," the filmmaker explained. That could have been a response to the positive reception to the humorous scenes shown at the event or something Marvel was always planning but it's clear Thor: Ragnarok ended up being pretty much perfect so the right decision was made! The movie moves really fast especially in the beggining, but all things considered, the pacing was quite good, then again...if those 30' were just jokes and gags...

@Jaspion - He wasn't serious about the film only being 100 minutes long and he's not being serious now. CBM fans are so obsessive that it's just too much fun to [frick] with us. lol

Honestly I think the "put a lot of the jokes back in" part is a joke but everybody is already getting butthurt.

Taika's trolling is un-matched, my favorite director of the moment.

I think all this complaining about it being a comedy will do is make me enjoy it more when I watch it, because everyone's acting like it's the worst movie ever. Maybe not though. Maybe it'll be the first Taika film I dislike haha
