THOR: RAGNAROK Trailer Is Marvel And Disney's Most Watched Ever In First 24 Hours
Good news for Disney and Marvel today as the Thor: Ragnarok trailer just broke the record for their most viewed trailer in its first 24 hours of release. Will that translate to box office receipts?
Could Thor: Ragnarok surprise us all by being 2017's biggest superhero movie? Well, the first teaser trailer is certainly generating a lot of interest as The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the sneak peek generated over 136 million views in just 24 hours. That makes it the most-viewed Marvel trailer of all-time (ahead of Captain America: Civil War's 94 million) and Disney's biggest to date as well.
The threequel beat current record holder Beauty and the Beast (127.6 million views) and movies from the studio's many properties, including their animated efforts, Pixar, and yes, even Star Wars.
The trailer did a great job of selling Thor: Ragnarok's tone, showing off a first look at Hela and the God of Thunder taking on The Hulk in a gladiatorial arena. Moviegoers clearly still get excited about "versus" comic book adaptations following Civil War and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice!
It's worth noting that Thor: Ragnarok didn't beat overall record holders It (197 million) and Fate of the Furious (139 million), but this is still an amazing feat and one which could mean it's a box office smash!
