Is the Autobot Matrix of Leadership in the Transformers movie?

I believe it may be. Here is my proof.

Recently someone mentioned the fact that the Matrix of Leadership may not exist in Michael Bay's Transformer series, I hope that will prove to be false.

If you watch Transformers Optimus Prime opens his chest at one point revealing what may just be his Spark, or it could be the Matrix, as I think it is.

Here are some of the different versions of the Matrix

Let me know what you think, am I seeing things or do you see it to? If this is the Matrix it reinforces the theory that Optimus may die in one of the upcoming movies.

Well a lot of people on another thread missed it completely, so I figured I'd set this up.

I don't think your seeing things. Prime is clearly opening his chest to reveal something, but he did this in the first movie to reveal his spark. Once that is considered, however, it seems pointless to go through it again in the sequel just reveal his spark. I'd say there is a fairly good chance you've found something. Kudos!

This news combined with the Fallen making his appearance bodes well for Unicron to come along in the 3rd.

I got to thinking about the posts on another article recently where you proposed a cool story involving Hot Rod and such... I'm sure you remember the one. Howlett said something that sparked an idea. Introduce Hot Rod i this one and when Prime dies, he pass' it to Ultra Magnus(like in the animated movie) but it doesn't work for him and in the 3rd, or the end of 2 in order to beat the Fallen, Hot Rod picks it up and wham!

HOLY SHIT!!! Didn't Bay pull some strings to get Leonard Nemoy to voice an autobot? Leonard Nemoy was the voice actor for Ultra Magnus back in the animated movie. My deductive reasoning skills suggest Ultra Magnus is in this movie. Judd Nelson is still around too, so he could voice Hot Rod again.

I thought it was, too, the fist time I watched the movie, until the end. First of all, he just says "...the spark in my chest..." Not saying that there's anything special or unique about it. Then, there's Megatron dying at the end the same way Prime was planning on committing suicide... Apparently Magatron has the same "spark" in his chest too. And I doubt there's suddenly a Decepticon Matrix now.

Every Transformer has a 'spark' within them that animates them and makes them sentient, it's essentially their 'soul'.

@TheProgram

Prime wasn't planning on destroying Magatron at the same time. Prime was planning on sacrificing himself by using his spark to destroy the Allspark so that Megatron couldn't use it to buils an army... But at the end of the movie Sam destroyed the Allspark by using Megatron's spark instead... destroying Megatron.

As I said before, I think the best way to kill off Prime would be to have him and Galvatron kill each other in a grand battle in the last movie.

Introduce Hot Rod in this movie or the next. Sideways and the Fallen are both in ROTF and they are both heralds of Unicron, so that sets him up in the third movie.

Unicron is alluded to or has a cameo in ROTF, and as this article shows Bay wants Leonard Nimoy to voice a Transformer.

So have Nimoy voice Unicron. The third movie focuses on the threat of Unicron.

The Autobots and Decepticons join together at the last minute to defeat Unicron, the embodyment of evil that feeds on hatred and conflict between the Transformers.

Prime and Megatron beat him, of course, and they realize that as long as the two of them exist, there will always be hatred and conflict. The transformers need a single leader under which they must unite.

They could have a duel on the remains of the defeated Unicron. Prime and Galvatron fight to the death to see who will rule the Transformers. Galvatron falls, Prime is mortally wounded and passes the Matrix to Hot Rod as his successor. Hot Rod becomes Rodimus Prime and leads the Transformers to peace.

I'm glad that others agree that the Matrix is in the movie as well. I think I'm going to change something in the article.

Ooooooo, my geek level is rising!

BTW, Myth, buddy, Ultra Magnus was voiced by Robert Stack (Unsolved Mysteries, Airplane, and The Untouchables tv show), Unicron was voiced by Orson Welles (his last performace, I might add), and Galvatron was voiced by Nimoy in the film. Welker took the role back in the tv series. Geeky for me to know the details, I know, but Transformers The Movie was a fave and I am currently wearing out the 20th anniversary edition.

Nimoy actually has a pretty deep voice, especially as he is aging. I think he would make an excellent Unicron. It would also be a nice nod or homage to us G1 TOS fans.

Just as an aside, because of complications due to the illness that eventually took his life, the makers of the 1986 movie did some digital audio corrections on Welles' voice.

yeah Phin it is also rumored Nimoy finishe Wells' lines in the movie. God Orsen Wells was a great actor. Citizen Cane, The Third Man great films.

I just left a comment on the other page, but I'll leave it here as well. I just thought of a kickass way to have Unicron show up in the movie, and they don't have to use the Matrix, or Megatron or any of that wonderful stuff. Google the Planet X/Niburu prophecy about the apocalypse and the whole 2012 thing and it says that a giant celestial body, either a planet, or a brown dwarf star is in an elliptical orbit around our sun, and speculators are saying that in 2012 its going to pass by us and create life ending havoc. I just thought how kickass it would be to incorporate that into the next movie, have it come out in 2012 and have Unicron be Planet X. I don't know if anyone else thinks that would be a cool idea. I don't believe the crap about Planet X, but there have been scientific studies, and news articles and crap like that about it for near 30 years. For some weird ass reason, I came across that crap today, and just now, the Planet X/Unicron scenario popped into my head. What do you people think? Or possible having Cybertron being planet X and Unicron being its disguised moon like in Armada. I just Wikipedia'ed Cybertron, and it's a travelling planet tending to young developing galaxies. According to some scientists, our galaxy is still very young. I think I'm going to write some Transformers fan fiction fused with the apocalypse.

THEHAWK - Thanks for getting this up. It was me and some other man/woman/child/semi-aquatic-mammal talking about this. I thought it was in the movie but wasn't sure. Of course I saw the blue glow but thought it could simply be the inner workings of a transformer. After these pics I am 99.96341% sure it IS the matrix.

@ Hawk

First of all thanks, I appreciate your attention to detail in dealing with the transformers. I wish, and I mean really really wish that is the matrix of leadership, but I seriously doubt it and here's why. Micheal Bay is my favorite director period. I watch his movies relentlessly, he always changes stuff. None of his movies are true to the scripts let alone the books and other sources they are based upon. He always does his own thing. I really like the universe he has created but it is not the real Transformer universe, or any of the variations in comics ect. We may eventually see the matrix of leadership, but we did not see it in the first movie. That would be too easy for Micheal Bay. His Matrix will be different, I promise you, and thats if we ever see it.

DEATH TO THE AUTOBOTS!!

its definitly the spark ...ok .... Optimus wants to merge his spark with the cube ... how i know?... think about it .... optimus will b destroyed by the cube because it is pure energy and this can destroy the Spark ... and its not resist ... then die ... i mean the reason is because optimus die (if he introduced the cube)its becouse spark not resist the cube...not the matrix...the SPARK ...XD
