In tonight's episode of Syfy's hit series The Expanse, "Assured Destruction," Holden is resistant to getting involved again in the fight to prevent the protomolecule from getting into the wrong hands. Avasarala shares her and Bobbie's story and the details on the war that is currently raging in the solar system. She explains that she is interested in Io as well and shows that she, Holden, and the rest of the Rocinante desire the same thing. This seemingly convinces Holden to help Avasarala in destroying the protomolecule and ending the war.
On Jupiter's moon Io, Mao seems to have a change in heart about the experiments of the protomolecule after he witnesses first hand the impact it is having on the child subjects. Meanwhile, the Secretary General, through the convincing of Errinwright, gives the orders to take out Martian stealth weapons with rail guns and eliminate the enemy's first-strike capability. However, all does not go as planned and a missile makes its way to Earth where it kills a couple million people in South America.
In next week's promo, the Rocinante comes across a space wreck and tend sto some wounded Martian soldiers; however, the soldiers may not be as respective to the hospitality as expected.
