Deadline reports that following a hugely successful streaming debut for The Tomorrow War on Amazon Prime Video, Skydance and Amazon Studios are already in talks to develop a sequel.

Director Chris McKay and screenwriter Zach Dean are expected to return, while the original cast will also be enlisted. That includes Chris Pratt, Yvonne Strahovski, Betty Gilpin, Sam Richardson, Edwin Hodge, and J.K. Simmons, and if you've watched the movie, there's at least one name there that should come as a surprise.

Paramount Pictures, the studio that originally developed The Tomorrow War before offloading it to Amazon for $200 million, will be involved. Clearly, this is being looked at as a property with serious franchise potential, something we know the streamer is looking for moving forward.

The critical response to the movie may have been mixed (it has 54% on Rotten Tomatoes), but The Tomorrow War quickly went to the top of streaming charts over the weekend and has been well-received by viewers with an average of 4.5/5 on Amazon.

In our review of the sci-fi blockbuster, we concluded by saying, "The Tomorrow War shatters expectations, and despite hitting a few familiar notes along the way, this surprisingly emotional action-packed blockbuster proves to be a fun ride and one that showcases the talents of Chris Pratt and Yvonne Strahovski."

How do you feel about The Tomorrow War getting a sequel?

@Waddles - Overmorrow is the word for day after tomorrow.

(I found out like a fortnight ago.)

For a service I'm already using for other things and it was a click away to watch at home it was..fine. If I had paid to see it in the theatres I would have felt like the money could have been better spent elsewhere.

Film was serviceable, monsters were cool enough even though they were a bit cloverfield for me

I loved the time travel concept. Was a fun flick.

My only criticism is the film was too long, and there was three very different movies going on in this one film. Just stick to a basic plot for a sequel, and make it half an hour shorter.

That first stair encounter when we first get a look at them

Man they looked terrific

They remind me of the sea monster at end of deep rising (classic btw

I feel like the aliens could have used a bit more too them. They were just angry lizard things.

I thought the movie was OK,not shit not good just OK. The twist you could see a mile away, its so obvious in these types of movies.

Hmm. Not sure this really needs a sequel, or where they would go in a follow up now that the aliens have been vanquished. You run the risk of becoming a bit cliche with "oh well we actually didn't vanquish all the aliens" or "surprise, there is another alien ship." Idk, not sure where to go from here. Also not sure how Edwin Hodge's character is still alive. Unless this movie acts as a prequel of sorts.

The movie was enjoyable though. A bit too predictable at parts, but some really good action, and the alien VFX was great. This movie was basically a greatest hits of a bunch of classic sci fi and creature horror films. I'd watch it again for sure, and give it around an 8.2/10.

Why does Pratt risk civilization last hope by jumping in after his daughter 😂😂 good thing he transported RIGHT THEN. Soo dumb. If he stops the war from happening, his daughter will survive
