I'm loving this show right now. The story is getting deep, best thing on tv now that GOT is off.

The Show is boring, it shows flashbacks of a cowboy that has no payoff in showing later in that episode. We're almost half way into the season and I feel like nothing has advanced. One thing I hate in the show is Tulip. She is a crazy stalker ex-girlfriend. I was hoping Jesse was gonna use his power to tell her to leave him alone. There are certainly parts that I like of course. Just wanted to point out some of the negatives I have.

@Space - as a huge fan of the books, I agree with you. They are really stretching everything out. They have 60 plus comic books with tons of great plot lines and to be honest we aren't even getting out of the first 2 or 3 issues this season. It's really frustrating

@ScarletJack - I'm halfway through book #1 and I kind of agree. ALOT of set up going on. The book just throws you right into the action. I guess the flashbacks wouldn't work as well like they do in the comic. But I really wish they killed the whole church congregation like in the book. Seems really lacking that they decided not to do that.

@Kman - yeah, i heard that this entire season may lead up to the church blowing up. But if that's the case, what a waste of a season. All the character development of all the side characters will be tossed away. Keep reading. The 2nd graphic novel is my favorite! It's probably one of the best revenge stories I've ever read. I won't spoil it for you but it's pretty epic.

Sorry, I really don't like this show anymore. I'm a huge fan of the comics.... They said that they stayed true to the characters but they really didn't. Jesse's Dad was a Vietnam Vet who never beat Jesse, never was a preacher and was the catalyst for making Jesse a good man. There were religious zealots in Jesse's family, but they were not his Father or Mother. Jesse would never use the word to force someone to believe in a faith that was not his/her own. I hated when he made Odin believe in something that clearly he did not. They are making Jesse akin to the Purple Man and he is not like that at all. In the books Jesse indeed believes that God exists but he never forced his beliefs on anyone else. TO be honest he barely uses the word in the books and when he does it's more or less to get information from people or to stop people from hurting him or the people he loves. I understand that this is an adaptation but I feel like the core of what made the books what they were is being swept away. I'll keep watching, but sorely disappointed so far.

@ScarletJack - To be fair he does use it on Cassidy every now and again. Who BTW is the best character in the book and the show! (from what Ive read so far)

@Kman - Cassidy is pretty much the only reasons I'm still watching. Perfect casting for him. And yes he did make Cassidy stand on his head and stop drinking once...but under the circumstances I believe he was justified.

@ScarletJack - I like the show but I don't disagree. I'm okay with changes to the story but not so much when they alter characters. When Jesse's Dad whipped him I was like WTF??
ScarletJack
ScarletJack - 6/28/2016, 12:49 PM
@RorMachine - Yeah I know, that seemed like an unnecessary change. I mean I understand that they are adapting some pretty out the wall material here and I know some of the stuff in the books certainly won't make it on the show. But I personally think that Garth's original origin story for Jesse was great. All I want to see is Jesse burn that damn house down in Angelville and kick Jodie's ass.

I don't think it's a bad show, I think it's just taking its time getting to the point and getting the real story started. I can appreciate them wanting to show a bit of his time as a Preacher even if it's so it has a bigger impact on him when he learns the truth about The Lord. They just need to get to it quick. 5 episodes is more than enough for a setup
