Ruth Negga has been a TV star in her adopted homeland of Ireland (she was actually born in Ethiopia) for a few years now, but she only recently got her break in the US with roles in the likes of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Preacher.

Now, as she seems poised to take Hollywood by storm with a critically acclaimed turn in Jeff Nichols' Loving, the actress speaks to Vogue about her career in a new interview which you can check out here.

Negga also reveals that it wasn't actually planned for her and long-term boyfriend Dominic Cooper to both land lead roles in Preacher, and only worked out that way because the latter was recording her audition and became interested in the script.

“I had the script first. And he put me on tape for it, reading, and then he was like: ‘Hold on a minute; this is really good.’ I showed him the comic-book cover, and it’s basically his face.”

Check out some of Negga's stunning photos below. Season 2 of Preacher is currently shooting and should be with us next year.
