Facts are facts and Mendes has yet to even see the script for the first Preacher film, yet he is confident in screenwriter, John August. Sam goes on to say “He's doing pretty well,” states Mendes. “He's about halfway through. There's a long way to go yet, but I'm very, very hopeful. I think it could be amazing.”

On whether the Preacher film has blockbuster franchise sequel potential Mendes states "You have to try and get one really good and then, if you're lucky, you can make a second or a third,” he explained. “You can create something that's going to run. But I think that there's certainly more than enough for one good movie and plenty left over.” Mendes added that the focus off course for now is to create a solid film, if that’s done then sequels are welcome.

They should go the way of the Trades, and do "Gone to Texas" for the first, and "Until the End of the World" for the second installment! "Proud Americans" for the third!

Then capitalize on a "Saint of Killers" movie from the "Ancient History" Trade!

The possibilities are ENDLESS!!! What are they waiting for?!!!

LEEE777 Is right we will be lucky if this thing sees the light of day. I'm super psyched for this movie, although I will try not to get my hopes up.

No matter what, it won't be the same as the books. I just can't see Hollywood funding a film series that is soooooo Anti-organized religion....When have they had the balls to something like that before?

TucsonRican @ I got more faith in WARNER BROTHERS than anyone else, if anyone can do it, they can!!! An it won't be no damn PG-13 either!

im just sooo glad no one but WARNER'S has stuff like this, SANDMAN and DEATH! Maybe we can hope to see a rebooted SWAMP THING an a JSA down the road too!!!

WARNER BROTHERS started the big comic book movie and now recently have set a bar for all comic book movies!!! The days of CATWOMAN (ugh) are the thing of the past!!! (For DC anyway lol).

QUALITY not QUANTITY! ; )

Not to be a douche

But this added nothing to the article Rorchach01 wrote earlier in the week. If anything, this is a "Cliff Notes" version of the original report.

TusconRican

Ron Howard and Tom Hanks have been making big budget, tumb in the eye to Catholicism, movies for the past few years. I think Ron Howard's movies are absolute dogshit, but at least he's proven that theory wrong.

To compare The Da Vinci Code to Preacher....just doesnt' give Preacher justice.

I mean, the heir of Jesus' line, is a retarded boy that always says "Humperdidoo".

Not quite the same as making the heir that cute little french woman. And they have only done 1,the second comes out tomorrow...

"And they have only done 1,the second comes out tomorrow..."

^_^ Dude, they did two. I don't think somehow it won't come out tomorrow. And the second one basically accuses the church of massacring a group of people. "Not quite the same as making the heir that cute little french woman", indeed. More like Hitler. I'm not trying to compare either one to Preacher. Like I said earlier, I think Howard's movies mostly suck. And I've never even seen The Da Vinci Code. All I'm saying is Hollywood is cool with bashing religion, so I'm not worried about Preacher in the least.

Yeah, they better get the first one right first. This movie is going to need some special care and attention. Otherwise, Hollywood is going to **** this up big time.

Friday the 13th was always awful anyway! But that new one really did hit new lows..pants. But from time to time Hollywood does grow a pair and makes a few pot shots at organised religion and stuff..granted its usually in lower budget movies that sneak under the radar. But i cant imagine Sam Mendes wussing out on this adap.
