Hugo Strange Will Appear On GOTHAM

We know that several Batman villains will be appearing on Gotham, and now have another name to add to that list: the deadly, hyper intelligent and borderline psychotic Dr. Hugo Strange!

We know that various members of Batman's rogues gallery will appear on Fox's upcoming prequel series, Gotham, including the Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy, with promises of future appearances from the likes of Harvey Dent, Scarecrow, and the Joker. Now, we have another name to add to that list: Dr. Hugo Strange. In an interview with IGN, showrunner Bruno Heller announced the news:

"Hugo Strange is going to pop up because we're going to start dealing with how Arkham was created and why Arkham was created in the way that it was so, yeah, absolutely. It's a Season One thing because in our telling of it the way Arkham was created and the why and how is one of the causes of the particular criminal climate in Gotham that allowed Batman to happen. The revolving door of Arkham is both a brilliant narrative device because it allows you to -- you don't have to kill people off, you can just put them in cold storage -- but if you're telling the story from the start you kind of have to explain, 'What the f--k? Why don't you make that place a place people don't escape from?' We're going to explain why it is the way it is and Hugo Strange is a big part of that."

Strange recently appeared in the video game Arkham City, and has been a major foil for the Dark Knight in several great comic book stories. He uses psychological and genetic modifications to create "monster men," and has an un-healty obsession with the Caped Crusader that even drives his desire to become Batman.

What do you think of Hugo Strange joining Gotham? Sound off in the usual place.

Well, this one makes sense. He is older than Batman, after all.

Not sure how this is going to play out, Hugo Strange is a welcome addition to the cast. Still iffy on the show though, I'm excited to see that the show is focusing on Gordon and the GCPD. But I'm not convinced about Batmans rogue gallery appearing, even if they're children. I'm still looking forward to Gotham, but I'm going in with a some what low expectation.

Harvey Dents inclusion is just weird, I'm not sure where they're going with that and at least Hugo Strange is older than Bruce Wayne. Now let's hope Thomas Elliot is involved in this shows. Because that one makes sense as he's Bruce's childhood friend.

I could have sworn they said that they'd be toning down the usage of villains...

@Melkaticox No one outside of comic book fandom knows who the [frick] Dr. Strange is. And why WOULDN'T they want to use him first? This way people will see Marvel's Dr. Strange and think of DC's.
