Ever since it was announced that the CW would be introducing a beloved DC Comics character during the season 1 finale of Legends of Tomorrow, fans have been speculating about who that could be. The most popular theories seemed to be Booster Gold, Blue Beetle, and Hal Jordon/Green lantern - and it turns out the latter may have been nearest the mark.

According to Bleeding Cool, it's going to be none other than original '40s Green Lantern Alan Scott that Suits actor Patrick J. Adams will be playing.

Scott was reintroduced to DC's New 52 continuity as a younger gay man, though it remains to be seen which version the show goes with - or indeed if this even turns out to be on the level.

What do you guys think? The season finale of Legends of Tomorrow is set to air on May 19.

@Sillypig123 - if this is real.

@Sillypig123 - Which is why we will never see real a Green Lantern on TV. They'll probably change his powers so that he just shoots green energy beams.

@nibs - this will probably be the case.

@Sillypig123 - May not even go with full constructs. Probably just shoot green lasers out of his ring.

Finger's crossed he's from Earth 2 and the second season is going to be a journey through the multiverse.

@nibs - if he is from earth 2 it would be cool if he made a few references about Jay.

Makes sense that they'd use Alan. I'm sure Hal is strictly off limits aside from the passing mentions we've had.

Cool if legit. I've always like Alan. With the CW propensity for diversification, this would make sense as well. That said, when reimagining the character, you have to wonder if the DC writers were laughing about the tongue-in-cheek situation of a gay character whose weakness was wood.

Guys, if it was a April Fools prank I'd have said he was gonna be friggin Batman.

This would be grrat, if true. The original GL Alan Scott was always my favorite. It would make sense since the DCtvu deals with Earth 2

Im pretty sure this is an April Fools joke and that Booster Gold is the character.
I hate April Fools day on the internet

I kinda hope it's an April Fools Joke because I would have rather had one of the other GLs e.g. Guy Gardner or better yet John Stewart seeing as how Hawkgirl is a series regular and they could end up in a relationship like they did in the Justice League cartoon series.
