Last week on DC's Legends of Tomorrow, the team suffered a major defeat. Hawkgirl was seriously wounded and Hawkman was murdered by Vandal Savage. This was indeed a huge surprise considering it was only the second episode of the first season.
TVGuide.com talked to executive producer Phil Klemmer about just that. He stated, "The tragedy is [Kendra] just came to believe what he was saying was true -- the fact that they were destined to fall in love in this life and every life that has preceded it. That happened on the eve of Vandal killing him,". He continued, "What we're going to explore in our show is her gradually remembering all the lives they had together in various time periods and how they inform this life, how everything she's learned in her 208 deaths will give her the strength and power and knowledge on how to not fail this time, when she will ultimately confront Vandal Savage."
So, from the sound of it, Falk Hentschel's Carter Hall/Hawkman will continue to be a part of the show, only it will be through Kendra's flashbacks of their previous lives together.
Mr. Klemmer also went on to discuss how they'd like to visit the idea of Hawkgirl falling in love with someone else in present day (Cisco prehaps?) even though she is destined to be with Hawkman. "You can imagine, should Kendra embark on a present-day romance story with someone aboard our ship or someone beyond our ship, that would really complicate things," stated Mr. Klemmer. "You meet the guy you're destined to fall in love with over the past 4,000 years, that seems like a pretty juicy love triangle that we'd like to get to some day."
A juicy love triangle is right!
Well, there you have it. Are you happy Hawkman will still show up in some capacity? Or, would you rather see him somehow resurrected in present day (not like it hasn't been done before)? Let us know below.
