Helen Slater is due to return to the world of superhero's in CBS's small screen take on the cousin of the Man of Steel in Supergirl. In an interview with the Telegram.com, Slater revealed the terms of her contract saying “I’m in the pilot and I have a contract as a guest star, which means they can use me as much as they want.” Does this cast doubt on her previously speculated role as Sylvia Danvers, the Earth mother to Melissa Benoist's Kara Zor-El, which would have presumably been a starring role.

Slater also pointed out that this isn't her first time returning to the world of Superman explaining:  'I have been in the Superman universe partially, I just can't get out of it' follwing an appearance on Smallville as Lara-El alongside Laura Vandervoort's Supergirl.

Melissa Benoist, known for her roles in Glee and Whiplash, will be playing the newly blossoming heroine in the show. Slater said of the pilot and Benoist:
“It was such a joy to do the pilot. My fingers are crossed that it goes well because they have a great cast. The girl playing Supergirl, Melissa Benoist, is fantastic.” “When I met her, we did the reading and she was fabulous. She did not need any advice at all,” Slater continued. “She’s sparkling and funny and delightful. She’s going to be awesome.”

*have. It just seems like this is being made to have a female-led superhero show on tv.

I've always liked Supergirl. Even moreso than Superman. But this show just does not get me pumped. I don't really see the Adventures of Supergirl being that interesting for a whole season. Just throw her in Titans, with a more vibrant, cutesy teen actress.

Yeah I'm all for female leads but the way they've extremely watered this down isn't appealing to me.
Plus, CBS, really? Seems so bizarre to have it on that network.

I really want more development on the Titans series.
Or Young Justice

@sabertron

Actually, Superman is divided in the public eye. So many people see him as hope (people reaching out to him, a statue in his honour, his own task force etc..) but some people see him as a loose cannon (namely Lex, Bruce and whoever painted False God) which is natural in the real world, if a super powered alien came to earth, quite a lot of people wouldn't be thrilled. Batman still is the loose canon, it's just no one knows about him, he's the vigilante

@Sabertron be like: Destruction caused by Zod is Superman's fault. Destruction caused by Iron Man and Hulk is Ulton's fault.
