Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) is really going to have her work cut out for her in the next episode as she finds herself up against Manchester Black (David Ajala) and The Elite. However, based on the new preview, it doesn't look like the encounter is going to go all that well for the Girl of Steel and her Superfriends as they seemingly find themselves thoroughly outmatched.

Meanwhile, Kara will also have to deal with tonight's fallout as Ben Lockwood (Sam Witwer) is once again free, thanks to an unfortunate assist from the President, meaning he and his Children of Liberty are now more dangerous than ever.

"What's So Funny About Truth, Justice, and the American Way?" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, V) (HDTV)

SUPERGIRL FACES OFF AGAINST THE ELITE - Manchester Black (guest star David Ajala) breaks out of prison with the help of his new team, The Elite, who are set on punishing the anti-alien forces. Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) pulls double duty as she tries to apprehend Manchester Black and his team as well as deal with a shocking new development with Ben Lockwood (Sam Witwer). Alexis Ostrander directed the episode written by Eric Carrasco & Aadrita Mukerji (#413). Original airdate 3/3/2019.

Season three saw Supergirl stop Reign and the other Worldkillers’ threat to humanity and our planet, and in the process, Kara was shocked to find her mother Alura alive and living in a salvaged Argo City that survived the destruction of Krypton. Reconnecting with her past caused Kara to realize that her true home is now here on Earth, where big changes are taking place for her and all of her friends in National City – and also, it appears, for a doppelganger in Russia! Season four promises to be full of surprises, action, adventure and lots of big revelations for Supergirl, Alex, James, J’onn, Lena and Brainy.

Supergirl features:
Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl
Mehcad Brooks as James 'Jimmy' Olsen/Guardian
Chyler Leigh as Alexandra 'Alex' Danvers
Jeremy Jordan as Winslow 'Winn' Schott
David Harewood as J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter
Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor

Nicole Maines as Nia Nal/Dreamer

This was a somewhat mediocre episode; was hoping it would have been a lot stronger. It had some great stuff, but also some pretty weak elements that dragged the episode down.

Pros:
- Lockwood. The more Agent Liberty, the better. He and his crusade have been the strongest parts of this season, and it was great to have him back. I think his release from prison was a bit lazy and weak in terms of writing, but good to have him back on the outside. I also thought his son did a good job honoring his father's legacy, and I actually liked that his son killed that symbiote.
- Menagerie. It was a cool design for the creature and how it attacked humans, ripping their hearts out, was good too. It had some very strong "We are Venom" vibes, but overall was good.
- Brainy, always good. He's pretty fun with his scenes.
- Nia. I really haven't liked her, that is until now. When she showed up suited up as Dreamer, that was pretty good.

Cons:
- Alex. Didn't really care for her storyline tonight. Too much soap opera.
- Hale. Her reasoning to Alex about not saying the truth about how the Children of Liberty factored into stopping Menagerie was extremely lame and really didn't make any sense.
- Lena. Probably the worst episode in the show's history for Lena. Her reaction to James saying he wasn't fine with her militarizing her research with the government was CRINGEY. Poorly written, it made no sense. James was very sincere and very honest but still loving to her, and he was completely correct. He also at no time said that they couldn't be together, just that he would never be able to support her actions on this subject. And Lena continued to put words in his mouth and eventually ended the entire relationship. Just came so far from left field.
- the other drama, soap opera scenes involving Alex and Kara.

Next week's episode looks like some good action. Looking forward to Team Superfriends versus The Elite. Manchester Black has been great this season, when he appears.

I will say though, them not finding a leftover symbiote in the lady is poor writing. Its essentially the government and DEO not doing their job. You would have run tests and xrays, etc. for something like that.

Liked the episode mostly and think things are going to keep escalating from now on, except for the Valentine's Day party, it felt a little too long that i needed to be.

I thought it was funny how Kara, Alex and J'onn cheered each other up by offering the candies at his office.

Brainiac 5 played himself when he first said he wasn't into Valentine's Day and then accepting Nia's invitation. That scene where he was fully researching the holiday on the DEO's screen made me think of the galaga scene from The Avengers. Also, does he have just one t-shirt during the party? It's the same one he wore when he got drunk and last episode when he was playing at Kara's home. Maybe Alex should have let him borrow a couple more clothes from Winn after all. (And that first mentioning of him from Kara in the episode? Winn-some. Thank you Supergirl writers)

I hope they show how Nia's training with Brainy goes in the next episode because her debut did felt a little underwhelming here because she didn't use much of her powers in battle, just beated up the heart-eater alien. At least when Mon-El finally debuted his suit he taught Kara new stuff and tanked a missile, but that's cool, baby steps.

I am pretty sure Lena is being very bribed or has something going against her that has cornered her against the wall to plan a rushed romantic trip and end it when she could not get Jimmy's approval because he was right in everything he said about what would happen to her research, specially more when the government released Lockwood after his hate-group took the credit for something that Supergirl and company took care of, she is literally walking into the lion's den so I am sticking with that Haley and others have dirt on her to leave her with no other choice than to accept to work with them. Betting they know she bribed the DA earlier.

That's been Lena's mistakes this Season: being warned about stuff and still going ahead in doing it. She was warned by Eliza and Alex that it wasn't right nor safe to give human powers and she went ahead and did it and killed someone. This is the same.

I'm starting to think Alex will soon remember her full connection with Kara as Supergirl, this time she sounded more like before when she admitted SG helped them more in keeping everyone safe than last time.

The Elite episode seems pretty good.

I only watch this as lessons on "what not to to do when writing a story."

This show has been going down the drain all season. I turned over last night and watched something else. No more Supergirl for me. I'll been a DC fan since childhood. This is not a family show anymore.
