Death fans will be pleased to hear that Kirby Howell-Baptiste's surprisingly chipper take on The Grim Reaper will have a larger presence in the second season of Netflix's The Sandman.
The actress, who only appeared in one episode of the first season, the superb "The Sound of her Wings," confirmed that Morpheus' big sister will "be in more episodes" of the DC Vertigo adaptation's sophomore run during an interview with Collider.
"Death is a large part of this season and there are some incredible stories with the family that I'm very, very excited for fans to see," Howell-Baptise said while promoting her new movie We Strangers at SXSW. “It's been fantastic going back actually, because this season, I think fans will be very excited for the episodes. It feels like the show is a two-way street, it's not just us putting something out, it's Neil listening, responding to the fans, and then in turn giving them the things that they are asking for, yelling for, begging for. So I think fans are gonna be really excited to have these stories expanded and have the complexities, and the family and, and all of those dynamics, see them even more this season, this continuation of episodes.”
Season 2 is expected to cover the "Season of Mists" and "Brief Lives" arcs, but it will also likely adapt at least a couple of standalone stories from Neil Gaiman's seminal saga, possibly including the Death-focused The High Cost of Living (though that may come later).
We will be introduced to some new members of Dream's family when the show returns, and a rumor doing the rounds online is claiming that Hanna star Esme Creed Miles has been cast as Delirium, who plays a major role in Brief Lives.

"There is another world that waits for all of us when we close our eyes and sleep — a place called the Dreaming, where The Sandman, Master of Dreams (Tom Sturridge), gives shape to all of our deepest fears and fantasies. But when Dream is unexpectedly captured and held prisoner for a century, his absence sets off a series of events that will change both the dreaming and waking worlds forever. To restore order, Dream must journey across different worlds and timelines to mend the mistakes he’s made during his vast existence, revisiting old friends and foes, and meeting new entities — both cosmic and human — along the way."
The Sandman also stars Tom Sturridge as Dream, Boyd Holbrook as The Corinthian, Donna Preston as Despair, Stephen Fry as Gilbert, Mason Alexander Park as Desire, Charles Dance as black magician Roderick Burgess, and Sanjeeve Bhaskar as Cain. Joely Richardson plays Ethel Cripps, while David Thewlis takes on the role of her son John Dee, aka the deranged Dr. Destiny.
