David Duchovny Comments On THE X-FILES Possible Revival

A couple days ago, Fox executives revealed at their Television Critics Association presentation that they have been discussing bringing back Chris Carter's supernatural television series The X-Files.

Over the weekend, fans of The X-Files received some exciting news. Fox announced that they have been discussing reviving The X-Files. The show ran on Fox from 1993-2002. Fox didn't elaborate on the news because the process was in the early stages. Though, they did mention that they have reached out to series creator Chris Carter and the two stars of the series David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.

We knew from a recent Nerdist podcast that Anderson is excited to play FBI Agent Dana Scully again, but what about Duchovny. He recently told USA Today he's ""more than happy and excited to bring it back and do it again with (co-star) Gillian (Anderson) and (series creator) Chris (Carter)."

David Duchovny, 54, expects that if The X-Files does come back in some form it "will happen sooner rather than later."  Also, don't expect it to be a full season. "Certainly I can't nor would I be interested in doing a full season," Duchovny said. "It will be in some kind of limited form. We're all old, we don't have the energy for a full season."

Sounds like we could end up with a shortened season like Keifer Sutherland's 24 had last year on Fox. Would you guys and gals be interested in something like that?

What's really strange about this whole bit of X-files news, comes just as I finished re-watching the entire series. Spooky.

I think what he means by "Too old" is that he has been in the business too long to now go back and not walk around naked and have sex with just about every female character on the show. Californication has probably ruined him, lmao.

Somehow bring back Tooms... he was my favorite freak of the week. Plus the actor portraying him has only gotten stranger over the years.

I would say reboot it with new character, except I honestly never liked the show as much as I enjoyed Duchovny and Anderson interacting with each other. I always liked THEM more than I liked the show, and I own all the DVD sets.

Not enough energy to do a full season? And you want to be considered an actor still? That doesn't help you continue your career.

I'd say do it, only as a way to tease the (possible) third film in the franchise.

LOVED X-Files! One of the few shows that both my wife and I enjoyed. I would love to see Mulder and Scully return, even if it's to introduce a new cast of characters and pass the torch.

To be fair, David Duchovny was a lot younger when he first did X-Files.

If they could do 10 episodes a season, I would be fine with that.

@Nomis In season 7, Mulder did finally find out what happened to his sister.

I don't want to spoil it for you in case you plan to watch the series.
