"I'll throw you out that window if you don't apologize to me Rick James.", warns Ozymandias sporting the reddened impression of Rick James's ring in the palm of his hand.

this is stupid, the marketing for this movie has gotten out of control

OMG... The Watchmen universe is bleak... They have so much turmoil, Nixon is STILL president and they have to put up with Flock of Seagulls!...

Seriously, that clip brought back a lot of old MTV memories.

I think this type of marketing is genius. Granted, I don't keep up with a lot of what's going on (hence I try to come here often), but I haven't seen a huge amount of hype for this movie.

I've seen the usual displays at a movie theater, I catch a 20 second commercial on TV every few days (don't watch a lot of TV anyway) and the only thing our book store has is a little 3sq ft table with a tiny sign a stack of the graphic novels and a stack of the Philosophy and Watchmen books.

Hell, usually by now a bookstore will have almost an entire section devoted to any kind of book or comic gone to movie. Even their Golden Compass section was huge. Not so much for Watchmen though.

new tv spot i think http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QolJxBrq1W8

anti watchmen movie review from people who saw the advanced screening, not a good sign but hey you should always listen to all perspectives. I do think it's certainly possible that this could be disappointing to me on several levels, but then again I'm just not such a totalitarian about what is going to make this movie good, If it's a great movie while missing some critical elements to the comic it will still be great to me, I'll judge it on it's own merits. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLPXHCE3eFA

I would be more inclined to trust Wil Wheaton's review than those two guys. No offense to the "youngins'" but I don't see a couple of random college guys (or I assume, it looked like a dorm room) being able to properly judge the -whole- depth of the story. I still find new depths each time I read it.

Plus, I would be suspicious of someone who only created their Youtube account a few months ago, and this is their first video. Looks to be more an attempt at generating hits, or just jocks looking to p!ss off some nerds.

But, if that review is honest, it could be a downer... And no worries for anyone who watches it, it doesn't really have any spoilers.

They really captured the feel of the Real MTV from back when it actually WAS cool, and actually DID play music videos. Very clever, as has been most of the marketing I've seen associated with this film. And I agree with Falcon- I'd be more inclined to trust Wil Wheaton than some people on YouTube who are just out to troll for hits on their video. I do my best to avoid anything like that. Get your cheap numbers off of the kids.

Yea, that was a terrible "review" because it wasn't a review at all. That was lame. Those dudes can't be any older than 21. Guaranteed neither of them have even reached that age yet. The guy on the left has to be like 19, which means, neither were alive when the damn thing was written. You can tell by their pristine copy of the new Graphic Novel. That thing can't be more than a couple of weeks old. Seriously.

Anyway, lame review, they suck as critics. There was no information given pertaining to the story, characters, plot movement etc. "Duuuuuh, it's a purdy movie." We know it's visually stunning. We want to hear someone speak on the acting, the story's portrayal, what's in and whats been cut, how it progresses etc. Also, I don't give a flying Frick about the Superman spot. Of course it's tied in, IT'S DC/WB. Idiots. I think I just did a better review of their review than they did of the movie...

EDIT: Oh yea, the MTV-esque countdown was good stuff. Very reminiscent of the old MTV, Remote Control and "Downtown" Julie Brown.
