DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN - Nikki M. James Is Reportedly Playing Kristen McDuffie

A recent photo from the set of Daredevil: Born Again gave us a first look at Nikki M. James alongside Matt Murdock, and, as many speculated, the Severance actress appears to be playing Kristen McDuffie.

Shortly after Daredevil: Born Again started filming, some photos from the New York set gave us a first glimpse of Severance and The Book of Mormon actress Nikki M. James taking a stroll alongside Charlie Cox.

The images seemed to suggest that James' character was a colleague of Murdock's, leading to speculation that she might be playing Kristen McDuffie, and insider @CanWeGetSomeToast now claims to have confirmed as much.

In the comics, McDuffie was the assistant DA who strongly suspected that Matt was actually the Man Without Fear. She frequently tried to get him to admit that he was really the costumed vigilante, and their friendly banter eventually evolved into a romantic relationship.

Whether things will play out this way in the Disney+ series obviously remains to be seen, but the trades did mention that James could be playing Murdock's love interest when her casting was first announced.

Vincent D'Onofrio and Jon Bernthal will also reprise their respective roles from the Netflix series, along with new cast members Michael Gandolfini and Sandrine Holt.

We recently learned that Holt will play The Kingpin's wife, Vanessa Fisk.

The show will be loosely based on the '80s Marvel Comics series of the same name by Frank Miller and David Mazzuchelli, but is not expected to be an overly faithful adaptation. Despite some significant changes to the story, "Daredevil versus Wilson Fisk, aka the Kingpin, remains the focal point."

Matt Corman and Chris Ord are on board as writers and executive producers. No premiere date has been announced, but the show is expected to bow in the spring of 2024.

The Book of Mormon? That racist musical that says "religion is good actually"? I don't trust anyone who's worked on that.

@CoHost - She was also in Les Miserables, if that means anything

@CoHost - ok you clearly don't understand the people who made the musical.

Trey Parker and Matt stone make their comedy under the concept of "everyone and everything can be mocked or nothing can be". They aren't racist. They just aren't gonna hold back their punches in their jokes simply because they are black.

And they've heavily mocked religion in the past. They got their start by having Santa beat up Jesus ffs.

And yes, inherently religion is a good thing. Does it have problems? Yes. But in the end of the day it's all about giving people existential hope to move on in their lives.

Besides, this woman is black. Are you seriously gonna make the argument she's racist?

@Origame - "Trey Parker and Matt stone make their comedy under the concept of "everyone and everything can be mocked or nothing can be". They aren't racist. They just aren't gonna hold back their punches in their jokes simply because they are black. "

There's no such thing as "equal opportunity offender". A punch to a privileged group is a thousand shots to a marginalized group.

"And yes, inherently religion is a good thing. Does it have problems? Yes. But in the end of the day it's all about giving people existential hope to move on in their lives. "

It's been proven that atheistic/secular states have less problems than religious ones. Religion has been the #1 causes of wars and slavery.

"And they've heavily mocked religion in the past. They got their start by having Santa beat up Jesus ffs. "

They're far too nice on Christianity. They will mock other religions that have brown people in them, like Islam. Wonder why.

@CoHost - 1) well, the black woman who starred in it didn't see it that way. And so much for equality.

2) source?

3) they made jokes about the catholic church being crazy murderers that will kill bunnies to preserve their religious views. At least they limit Islams to making death threats for depicting Muhammad (which actually happened).

@CoHost - pretty interesting choice, considering they labeled the likes of Mexico and Brazil as the most religious for this when those are also notoriously impoverished countries. You know, poverty? That thing that has been proven for the longest time as being a direct cause of higher crime rates?

Not only that, but countries like Japan and Sweden are considered less theist, yet they are also very very wealthy countries all things considered.

Finally, I find it pretty funny you claimed Parker and stone were racist pretty much for pointing out the same kind of sh!t this study is. Those are a lot of brown people this study labels as the most violent.

@CoHost -
Statistically more than half the American population believe in god.
If you can’t understand that religion is a great source of comfort for a great deal of people you must live under a rock.
In other countries they have THEIR religion as well.
You talk about religion being evil as if its obvious but 1) Many people obviously disagree and 2) wars are political in nature. They just used scripture to fit their narrative. If someone decides to invade a country and gaslights a population to follow his political agenda, it is HIS fault. He’s a sociopath and uses people with lies. That’s probably against religion too.

@Polaris - She'd be perfect. I know the character isn't part of the original 'Born Again' comic run, but they've already cherry-picked parts for the Netflix series - and since this is not a strict adaptation.: she would really amp things up.

Guess it explains the absence of Karen if true. And I wouldn't mind a different person for Matt to play off this time around. Could be fun

They're adapting Mark Waid's run but I don't know if it'll be set in San Francisco and poor Foggy so they're doing that story.

Huh. OK -- kinda weird to get rid of Karen just like that, with no explanation, and bring Kristen in this early. I liked the character in the comics, though, but it saddens me we won't be seeing Deborah Anne Woll's Karen anymore. I did enjoy her take on Karen in the Netflix series. One can only hope for Elden Henson to come back as Foggy...

Also, I know DIsney doesn't have the balls for it, but I'd so love to have Milla as a love interest for Matt at some point. Her whole story arc was so depressing and tragic.
