Rumored DAREDEVIL Actor Jason Statham On Marvel Action Scenes: "Anybody Could Do It"

We already know Spy actor Jason Statham isn't a big fan of superhero flicks, and now in a new interview he's had another little dig at them by suggesting not a whole lot of physical effort goes into a Marvel action scene. Ummm... welcome to the cast of Daredevil Jay?

Marvel might well want Jason Statham for the role of Bullseye in season 2 of Netflix's Daredevil, but considering the shade he's thrown at them and superhero projects in general, it's entirely possible they'd be barking up the wrong tree! The Crank actor has said in the past that he's not a fan of comic book type movies because of how far fetched they are, and now in a video interview with i400calci, he takes a shot at Marvel's style of "inauthentic" action sequence.

"A lot of the modern sort of action movies I see, you know, Marvel comic sort of things, I just think, any guy can do it. I have no ambition. I mean, I could take my grandma and put her in a cape, and then put her in a greenscreen, and then have stunt doubles come in and do all the action. Anybody can do it. I mean, they’re relying on stunt doubles, and greenscreen, and $200 million budget, it’s all CGI-created. So to me, that is not authentic. I’m inspired by old, real star guys that can really do it."

I think any old-school action fan can definitely appreciate the point Statham is making here, but he might want to take a look at the show he's been rumored to be involved with - because one thing Daredevil is not short of is impressive, expertly choreographed fight scenes.

Do you think we could see Statham as Bullseye in season 2 of Daredevil? Would you still want to?

Daredevil and Captain America: The Winter Soldier are good examples of good action sequences. The scene the elevator in TWS, Chris Evans and Frank Grillo were literally hitting each other.

Actually even in the movies the actors do about 75-85% percent of their own stunts. And Daredevil was definitely almost all the actor.

Yeah, but RDJ and Renner have injured themselves a lot on set, so have other actors

There's definitely stuntmen but the actors give their all

Not everyone can be Jackie Chan. This is why they need an actor with martial arts training for Danny Rand. And some of you mother[frick]ers wanted Ryan Phillippe ...

Doesn't anyone remember the interview from a few years ago where he was begging to play Daredevil? The CBM community wasn't behind him for Daredevil back then but thought he'd be a great Bullseye. It was when one of his friends was attached to direct.

Daredevil and Cap 2 had one of the beat hand to hand combat scenes I've seen in a long time. He has a point though.

It's all still great action in general though I get what he means. When it comes to Iron Man and the Hulk there's not a lot of ways around it. You need to use those trick to bring it to life. Thor is kinda in the middle. But mostly anything with Captain America, Black Widow, and Hawkeye is genuine so you can tell he obviously hasn't cared to watch these movies, or at least the ones with his type of action.
