Get Your First Look At Sigourney Weaver's THE DEFENDERS Villain As Her Character's Name Is Revealed
EW has given us our first official look at Sigourney Weaver's villainous character from Marvel's The Defenders, and also provided us with a name - but don't expect to recognize it! More past the jump...
Ever since it was announced that Alien icon Sigourney Weaver had signed on as the main antagonist in Marvel and Netflix's The Defenders, fans have attempted to guess the identity of her mysterious character. Now, EW has provided us with a name, but it's not one that's immediately recognizable as an established Marvel Comics villain.
Weaver will play Alexandra.
If you're thinking that might be a front for a more familiar moniker, EW states that she has "no code name and no comic-book history." However, showrunner Marco Ramirez does give us some idea of what to expect from this "utter badass."
"Sigourney is the kind of person you can buy as the smartest person in the room, who you can also buy as a person holding a flamethrower. Her character is a very powerful force in New York City. She’s everything Sigourney is: sophisticated, intellectual, dangerous.” He pauses. “I’m sorry. I can only say a bunch of adjectives right now.”
What do you guys think? Is there any chance Weaver is simply playing a very powerful woman that happens to make enemies of The Defenders, or does there have to be more to it tan that? Sound off below, and you can check out EW's cover HERE, and first batch of stills HERE.
