THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER Promo Poster Reveals A First Look At The Villainous "Flag Smashers"

Some newly released promo art for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier reveals a first look at a reimagined version of Flag Smasher, and it's clear now Marvel Studios is putting a unique spin on the villain.

Earlier today, we shared some new promo art from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier with you. There's some great stuff there, but by far the biggest reveal can be found below.

Baron Zemo is going to be the show's big bad, but we've known for a while now that other villains will be part of the Disney+ TV series. Flag-Smasher looks set to be among them, but it appears he will be reinvented as a femal character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe...and possibly as an entire team!

In the comics, Karl Morgenthau witnessed his father get trampled to death at the Latverian Embassy, and responded by embarking on a mission to eliminate nationalism by destroying the world's nations. Becoming Flag-Smasher, he formed ULTIMATUM, and was essentially a terrorist.

Looking at the hair, we're willing to bet that the masked character below is being played by Erin Kellyman. Chances are she's the leader of the "Flag Smashers," a group who could potentially be the female team of villains we've seen fighting the new Captain America in set photos and videos. Whether this debunks theories that she's also Songbird obviously remains to be seen.

It's not surprising that Marvel Studios is reinventing one of Captain America's more obscure villains, and it will be interesting to see what led to their formation following the events of Avengers: Endgame.

For now, take a look at this new promo art for The Falcon and The Winter Soldier below:

Bucky and Sam are pretty much outlaws, and they're going up against a group who doesn't pledge allegiance to anyone? I dig it.

Na she is definitely Songbird

I feel like this is just a group they will have to contend with in a post Endgame world. They will be a sign of the times. A heavy belief in anti-borders, anti-establishment, and anti-nations in a world that was just damn near blighted for 5 years makes sense.

5 years with crippling grief and a devastated global infrastructure. 5 years of crippled governments. And 5 years of new ideologies being born out of this ruin. Ideologies like no need for nations.

@soberchimera - I loved the humor in this show.

Random villain: And in mere moments, your little friend will DIE!

Space Ghost: My god woman! That'll kill 'em!

Follow by random flexing...

@BlackBeltJone - I definitely want to see the consequences of the snaps dealt with. Imo there is a ton of potential content there both with and without SH storylines.

@JDL - Same. I've been saying that the chaos and lawlessness likely caused by the snap would be a perfect reason to explain an explosion of street level heroes and villains.

@BlackBeltJones - Especially if you were brought back, you lost your home, property, your stuff, significant other, and there aren't enough jobs because half the population is applying all at once. If you came back and the government was doing a shitty job, you'd be PISSED

@Jahleel007 - Just think about all the logistical hell that exists with a country doubling their population overnight. Imagine being a successful business owner just to find out your company collapsed during the 5 years you were gone, and now you're tied to a bankruptcy. You'd lose your stocks, mortgage, healthcare, home. Honestly i couldn't imagine it

@Jahleel007 - That makes a lot of sense. And the beauty of the snap is that characters or actors from the various TV shows who aren't coming back are easily explained.

@Deonox - That would make for a GREAT tv show. One not focused on superheroes or hero antics, just regular folks dealing with it all on the ground level.

It would be something completely different for the MCU

I'm excited to see how they handle Flagsmasher and ULTIMATUM. A lot of potential for really good social/political commentary with them.

Idiot fanatics. They are perfect for Zemo to use as pawns.

I also want to see the Purifiers in the MCU. They can be white supremacists led by preacher William Stryker.

@FearTheLiving - Maybe they are white supremacists in the MCU ...

@Repian - Why not just have white supremacists instead of actively changing the group to be that.

Better yet use the Serpent Society and have them like they are in the comics were they race bait all sides to start an unnecessary war.
