The first season of
Legion ended with the revelation that David Haller, Dan Stevens' character, was adopted. Confirming that his biological father was in-fact Professor Charles Xavier. The second season will premiere on April 3rd on FX.
When Stevens was asked how the revelation will affect the second season, and his character, he said:
It's always there. It’s always plaguing him or ringing bells in the background of whatever is going on. It’s less at the forefront of his mind, at the beginning of this season, but it definitely comes into play, as we move on, as it does naturally for people who discover that they are adopted. It’s an intriguing prospect, I’ll say that.
While Professor X has not appeared in the show yet, he has been majorly hinted at when depicted as a chalk drawing in the mind of David whilst he attempted to uncover his relationship with the Shadow King. But even more prominently, we got to see a glimpse of the Professor's iconic wheelchair.
Steven's detailed the chair's connection to the X-Men cinematic universe:
[That was] the actual wheelchair from The X-Men movies, by the way, which was awesome. It came up to Vancouver in a special crate and there was almost a ceremony, as it was un-boxed. It was really cool.
Legion's showrunner, Noah Hawley revealed that he has thought about including Patrick Stewart or James McAvoy, the two actors who portrayed Professor X in the X-Men movie series; it remains to be seen whether they will go down that route or cast a new actor entirely or go down a different path.
Stevens did however essentially offer Stewart the role when they both appeared on The Late Late Show, to which Stewart accepted with a resounding:
Absolutely. One-hundred percent.
Which iteration of Professor X would you like to see appear in FX's Legion? Or who would you like to see play Charles Xavier who hasn't already?
