In an unusually quiet announcement, Variety has reported that Saïd Taghmaoui has departed from Legion season 2. The actor was set to play Amahl Farouk, also known as the villainous Shadow King. Aubrey Plaza played the role in the show's first season, with Quinton Boisclair as a monstrous incarnation. Both actors are set to portray the character again in season 2, and Taghmaoui was seemingly set to be a third form.
Taghmaoui confirmed the news on his Twitter account on Saturday, writing, “Finally I’m not going to be in Legion but a big surprise coming soon.” An FX spokesperson also confirmed to Variety that Taghmaoui had left the show, with a decision being made to recast the villain with a new actor. No further reason was provided for the actor's departure. Taghmaoui most recently appeared in another superhero project - DC and Warner Bros.' Wonder Woman - this past summer.
Legion's second season has been in production since September, and is currently scheduled to release sometime in February 2018. Who would you like to see step into the role of the Shadow King? Let us know in the comments!
