In the comic books, Ms. Marvel gains her powers after being exposed to the Inhuman Terrigen Mists, but with no indication that Marvel Studios has plans for Black Bolt and company, it seems unlikely the character's Disney+ series will delve into that side of things. As a result, there's been a lot of debate online about how Kamala Khan will gain her abilities in the MCU.
According to That Hashtag Show, Ms. Marvel will see the young hero power-up after she's blasted by "a bolt of energy, and this will give her some magical powers."
While her abilities will be the same for the most part, it seems the bracelets she wears will be what gives her superpowers. Whether she has to don them in order to use these newfound "magical powers" is unclear, but there is precedent in the comic books with the Kree-created Nega-Bands.
The original Captain Marvel, Rick Jones, Photon, Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers), and Marvel Boy are among the heroes to have donned them in the past. Kamala following in their footsteps does make sense, especially as using Kree tech will help tie her story into Captain Marvel's.
Kevin Feige isn't believed to be a great lover of the Inhumans, and it was Marvel Entertainment CEO Isaac Perlmutter who wanted the focus to be put on those characters in the MCU as an X-Men replacement.
The site also claims that Kamran will be Ms. Marvel's lead villain, but won't be an Inhuman either. Instead, it sounds like he wants Kamala's powerful new bracelets.
