MS. MARVEL Star Iman Vellani And Head Writer Address THAT Jaw-Dropping Kamala Khan/MCU Reveal - SPOILERS

The Ms. Marvel finale saved its biggest surprise for last, and Head Writer Bisha K. Ali and star Iman Vellani have shared their thoughts on that and how significant it is for the wider MCU moving forward.

Today's Ms. Marvel finale was a fun ride, but little did we know how much of a game-changer for the MCU it would turn out to be. Kamala Khan isn't an Inhuman, she's a mutant, and that means the door has now been kicked open for the X-Men to make their presence felt in this shared world.

After all, if Kamala has the X-Gene, you have to believe there are other teenagers about to discover their own newfound superpowers before eventually joining forces. That's getting a little ahead of ourselves, of course, though we do hope Marvel Studios will tease its X-Men reboot plans during that Hall H panel at the San Diego Comic-Con next weekend.

In the meantime, Marvel.com has caught up with Ms. Marvel Head Writer Bisha K. Ali to learn what dropping that big mutant reveal meant to her. "Oh my god, best day of my life!" she exclaims. "It wasn't from the beginning [of the show]. With Marvel, something's always a moving piece, and we're trying to solve this question of, ‘If any of [Kamala’s family] put the bangle on, would they have powers?'"

"The answer was always no, from a character perspective, no. I feel so excited as a viewer of my show. The Bisha teen fan girl in me is like, 'I can't believe it," Ali continues. "And the fact that it's Kamala — it's her. It's like her wildest dream already came true over the show [gaining powers], but then we just gave her one more bit of the dream. It's incredible. I'm overjoyed."

As you might expect, actor Iman Vellani was also overjoyed to learn that she's the MCU's first known mutant, and she couldn't help but email Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige to share her excitement.

"They sent me, and only me, the draft [of the final episode], and I immediately freaked out," she recalls. "I emailed Kevin Feige in all caps. I was like, are you doing this like for real? Are you sure? I'm so honored! I was like yelling at him through an email. I was freaking out. This is the biggest deal in the world, and the fact that it's happening in our show is crazy."

"People are going to lose their minds. They're going to lose everything. I did. It's truly a really big deal."

It is indeed, and it's no exaggeration to say the MCU has changed forever following the conclusion of this six-part TV series. From here, Kamala's story will continue to play out in The Marvels, though we don't necessarily anticipate that sequel dealing with her being a mutant in a significant way (that's what a season 2 is for, after all).

All six episodes of Ms. Marvel are now streaming on Disney+!

Must be cool for her as a fan. Just glad mutants didn't come from some multiversal bullshit. They should've been here all along.

I wouldn't think of her as the MCUs first known mutant. I mean Charles Xavier was in a movie this year for a start.

Also I think Wanda and Pietro are mutants. It hasn't been said explicitly but they haven't denied it either. Maybe it'll be addressed at some point down the line.

@TheManWithoutFear - think it’s referring to Main Universe and she’s the first acknowledged one

@TheManWithoutFear - the bangle activated her mutation while the Mind Stone activated Pietro and Wanda's possibly. Maybe certain radiation unlocks mutations.
