Today's incredible episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law brought Daredevil into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and what we got really couldn't have been any better. Charlie Cox made his debut in last December's Spider-Man: No Way Home (just days after The Kingpin appeared in Hawkeye), but this series marked our first time seeing his Man Without Fear in action.

Well, since the beloved series on Netflix!

Daredevil got to see a lot of action both in and out of the courtroom, and along the way, we learned a fair bit about what to expect from Marvel Studios' take on 'ol Hornhead. From how he could fit into the wider MCU to his upgraded powerset, "Ribbit and Rip it" has left us with a lot to discuss.

So, to get up to speed with all things Daredevil in the MCU, all you guys need to do is click on the "Next" button below!

5. He's Still Practicing Law In Hell's Kitchen

Screenshot-2022-10-06-at-15-22-06

While Matt does Luke Jacobson a favour by defending him against Leap-Frog and his lawyer, She-Hulk, in Los Angeles, the hero makes it clear he still practices law in Hell's Kitchen. Explaining that most of his work is pro bono, Matt mentions that he takes on the odd big case in order to keep the lights on.

He never names his law practice but does, at one point, say "us." We have to assume that's a reference to his partner, Foggy Nelson, and confirmation that Nelson & Murdock does exist in the MCU.

After Matt took on a massively high-profile case in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and was confirmed for an appearance in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, some wondered if he might have started working for a big law firm like GLK&H. The Man Without Fear hasn't sold out, though, and continues helping those who need it in his corner of New York City.

4. The World Doesn't Know Who Daredevil Is

Screenshot-2022-10-06-at-15-27-09

Jennifer Walters may have a famous cousin in The Hulk, but she's clearly no great superhero expert. Despite that, the fact she hasn't ever heard of Daredevil is a pretty strong indication that the hero has stayed under the radar for the most part.

Marvel Studios looks set to explore a very different side of the MCU in Daredevil: Born Again, exploring the streets of this world and the heroes who protect them. This moment between Jen and Matt may be humorous, but it also shows that there are superpowered individuals out there who do their thing without ever assembling alongside The Avengers.

That's not to say Daredevil is a nobody, of course, and we have a feeling he'll be far more recognisable on the streets of Hell's Kitchen. Now he's met She-Hulk, though, it would be fun for him to cross paths with Earth's Mightiest Heroes...

3. He's Single (And Ready To Mingle)

Screenshot-2022-10-06-at-15-35-53

Matt and Jen really hit it off and, following their team-up to take down Leap-Frog and his goons, they spend the night together. This isn't necessarily the start of something bigger, but rather two single adults having a good time with no strings attached.

The operative word there is "single." Daredevil is no cheat, and the fact he hooked up with She-Hulk is a pretty strong indication that there is no Elektra or Karen Page in his life. The former being M.I.A. isn't a shocker, though the time he spent with Jen might disappoint those hoping he and Karen will be an item in Daredevil: Born Again.

That series will run for a whopping 18 episodes, so there's going to be plenty of time to explore Matt's love life. Karen is a Netflix character who arguably brings too much baggage with her, but regardless of her MCU future, Matt clearly has no significant other in his life right now.

2. He May Be More Powerful

Screenshot-2022-10-06-at-15-40-42

Based on comments from Cox, the MCU's Daredevil is a different version from the one we saw on Netflix. While they may have some shared history, this is a fresh start for the Man Without Fear, something that makes sense (there's no way Marvel Studios was ever going to be beholden to Marvel Television's hit-and-miss storytelling).

Among the changes Kevin Feige has already made to the hero is what appears to be a relatively significant power upgrade.

We saw that with the immensely strong Kingpin in Hawkeye, but the fact Daredevil is able to go toe-to-toe with She-Hulk and leap down the side of that parking garage with such ease...well, he's now more in line with his comic book countpart. After all, it's hard to imagine a display of power like this from the Netflix Variant.

1. That's A New Suit

Screenshot-2022-10-06-at-15-45-42

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law establishes that Matt is one of Luke Jacobson's clients, and that this red and yellow suit is brand new. Should we expect it to now carry over into Daredevil: Born Again

We'd be shocked if it doesn't, and if this is the MCU Daredevil's permanent new look, we have no complaints. His comic book counterpart only wore it for his earliest adventures, and some fans were concerned that it might look goofy in live-action. It doesn't, and while we're holding out hope for a classic red version, this costume is badass in action.

Alas, it's still missing the classic "DD" logo, and we have no idea why. That's not addressed here, but after inspiring Jen to be a hero as She-Hulk, perhaps that's yet to come. Fingers crossed, anyway.

Nah, there is nothing here that indicates this is separate from the Daredevil in the Netflix seasons. Perhaps you need to just rewatch those three seasons.

@HeavyMetal4Life - yea it's pretty obvious they're aiming to make it so that this is the same character if you watched those shows, but that if you didn't there's nothing you really need to take from them. Same deal with Kingpin

@HeavyMetal4Life - same suit, same actor, same music cues, obligatory hallway scene, no direct contradiction to the previous show, it is the same one. just because he's being "soft rebooted" doesn't mean it's a brand new Daredevil, Ragnarok is basically a soft-reboot for Thor too.

@thundershocked - No he didn't. Charlie said he believes this show is a Season 1 of a new show instead of being Season 4. Which means it's not a direct continuation of a story that was set 7 years prior in the MCu.

He hasn't read the script because it doesn't exist yet. So he doesn't know for sure. Vincent confirmed that the Hawkeye showrunners and him both were continuing Fisk's story from Daredevil.

@HeavyMetal4Life - By the end of Season 3 (really before that), Matt and Karen were only friends and co-workers. There’s no cheating here and no evidence that Karen will not be a part of Nelson, Murdock and Page. There’s no guarantee that that will be the case but Josh is making fallible conclusions. Shocking, I know.
thundershocked
thundershocked - 10/6/2022, 10:52 PM
@HOTSHOT - 1. Charlie has already met with the writers. He confirmed that in Sept at D23. You don't need completed scripts to know the overall direction of the show.

2. You're arguing for the sake it. Charlie's quote "It is a Season 1, it is not Season 4, so it is a whole new thing. Which I think is the way to go. If you are going to do it again, do it differently."

Me "more about this than Charlie Cox? He blatantly confirmed it's not the same."

You "it's not a direct continuation of a story that was set 7 years prior in the MCu."

All three of us just said it's different.

@ShimmyShimmyYA @thundershocked

Hey, don't take my word for it. Take MARVEL's...

"While the character was teased earlier in the season, he’s finally reintroduced to audiences in Episode 8 of Marvel Studios’ She-Hulk — and he’s very much the same Matt Murdock audiences have come to know and love over the years, once again played by Charlie Cox returning to the role."

And that, my friends (@OmegaDaGrodd @Spidey91 @HOTSHOT) is how you officially close an argument.

Or even implicitly tbh so no I’m going off the word of the people working on it not the marketing department

The yellow suit looked better than I thought it would but I hope he's back in (mostly) red sooner rather than later. Also maybe an unpopular opinion but I don't think he really needs the DD on his chest, if anything maybe a more subtle version like a belt buckle or something.
