This week's episode of WandaVision set the stage for what promises to be an eventful and exciting finale, but fans should probably prepare to shed a few tears along the way.
Though there are certainly sinister undertones, Marvel's first Disney+ series has been a fairly light-hearted affair for the most part, but with Agnes revealing her true identity and seemingly holding the twins against their will in order to keep Wanda under control, it looks like the stakes are going to raise considerably for the final two instalments - and the drama along with them.
During an interview with THR, Monica Rambeau actress Teyonah Parris was asked if she could describe her reaction to WandaVision's final episodes without spoiling anything. "Epic and incredibly sad," she responded. "I mean, the whole show is incredibly sad to me, but I'm putting those words together."
Marvel Comics fans may think they have some idea what's coming (at least as it pertains to certain characters), but you just know this show is going to play with viewers' expectations and attempt to pull the rug out from under us.
While things may look bleak for the Scarlet Witch and her family, with Monica's Photon-like abilities beginning to emerge, expect Wanda to gain a powerful ally in the selfless S.W.O.R.D. agent.
“Once Monica sees Wanda and realizes that she’s grieving, she recognizes their parallel experiences and that they’re both grieving loved ones,” Parris says of their encounter in Friday's episode. “So I think that Monica is handling [her grief] in the best way she can. I’m not saying it’s the most effective and most therapeutic way, but I do feel like she is trying to reconcile with her own grief by helping Wanda with hers.”
