Marvel’s Victoria Alonso Promises More Animated Series & "Mini Studio" On The Way After WHAT IF...?

The upcoming What If...? Disney+ show will be Marvel Studios' first MCU-set animated series, but Victoria Alonso has now promised that more are in the works, and teases a new animation "mini-studio."

Disney+ recently debuted the full trailer for What If...? while confirming that the series will hit the streamer next month, but it sounds like the Multiverse-spanning adventure is just the first of a planned series of animated shows.

While speaking to Variety at this year’s NALIP Media Summit, executive VP of film production at Marvel Studios Victoria Alonso teased "a few other shows," and revealed that a "mini studio" is also on the horizon.

“We have so much coming your way that you might tell us, ‘Okay, take a break now!'” Alonso began. “We’re going to have our animation branch and mini studio, and there will be more to come from that as well. We’re super excited about animation, which is my first love.”

What will these shows focus on? Alonso didn't offer any hints, but rumors of a new Deadpool animated series have bee doing the rounds, so that's one possibility.

Alonso also touched on Marvel's commitment to introducing more diversity and representation to the MCU following her recent comments about Loki being confirmed as bisexual and gender fluid.

“I think it’s important to consistently listen to what fans are saying,” she said. “If there’s a vast majority that feels that something is not hitting home, then we need to look at it, but then there’s times where we say, ‘You know what, this is a story we’re gonna tell.' There’s something really magical about being seen. When you are being seen, the shame drips down like there’s no tomorrow. There’s a layer of shame that goes away, there’s a layer of ‘I don’t belong, I don’t deserve it, I am not worthy’ that goes away.”

What do you guys think? Any idea what these other animated shows might be? Let us know in the usual spot.

It's about time Marvel takes Animation more serious.

With what DC has done and Star Wars with their branch, i've been waiting for more from them. What If? looks really great and I am loving the animation style of it.

I'm super excited for what if... But I'm not crazy about the animation style. We'll see, maybe it will grow on me.

Just revive Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and make a darker anime on Norse Mythology with the MCU cast voicing them and I'll sell my soul to Disney!

It’s about damn time. They need to start prioritizing animation.

And revive EMH

@BlackBeltJones - EMH has my favorite versions of both Hulk and Hawkeye without a doubt!

It would be great if Genndy Tartakovsky works on an animated short film.

I'm just here to repeat what others already said: bring on that revival for EMH already. And maybe also another anthology shows (a Tales to Astonish show for example).

OT: I don't remember who brought up the Bezos launch earlier today, but the Bo Burnham song is still stuck in my head. I really can't take Jeff serious anymore.

When you think about it Marvels kicking ass on D+, we’ve already had 3 live action series this year alone and an animated one coming soon with a lot more live action shows coming while with Star Wars we’ve gotten 1 live action so far and 2 animated with a few more live action shows to come.

A single and easily to be cut line is not representation.
