The first trailer for Marvel Studios' first animated series, What If?, didn't reveal a lot about what fans can expect from the Disney+ series, and mostly just showed off some random footage. Since then, we've been treated to promo art, including a version of the God of Thunder who has been dubbed "Party Thor."
Thanks to The Illuminerdi, we have some possible story details for the episode, and it sounds like we'll be taken on a pretty wild ride alongside the Odinson.
Apparently, this Thor is one who never found his humility when he was banished to Earth, with the premise along the lines of "What if Thor’s first movie never happened?" (we're guessing Marvel Studios will have come up with a slightly catchier name for the story than that, though).
As for what makes this version of the character a "Party Thor," the site explains that "Instead of being banished to Earth, Thor will reportedly come to Midgard to throw a massive intergalactic party that could potentially bring about the end of the world as we know it."
This sounds like a fun premise, and not every episode has to be deadly serious. After all, exploring what would have become of Thor had he taken the throne of Asgard and never learned to love Midgard actually sounds pretty fascinating. This God of Thunder wouldn't have become an Avenger and was likely arrogant enough that he's happily come to Earth to throw a massive party, putting the planet at risk in the process.
Hopefully, this is just the beginning of more to come in terms of What If? story details! The series is currently said to be heading to Disney+ for an August premiere.
