Forget About Getting Any Sleep Tonight Thanks To This STRANGER THINGS Demogorgon Animatronic Head Test

Stranger Things took the world by storm last year when it hit Netflix, and a new video and photos take us behind the scenes of how the terrifying Demogorgon was brought to life in the acclaimed drama.

It may not be based on a comic book, but Stranger Things grabbed the attention of pretty much everyone when it debuted on Netflix in 2016. A mixture of horror and sci-fi, the show's scares came courtesy of the terrifying Demogorgon from the Upside Down. Brought to life with a combination of practical and special effects, Spectral Motion has now offered a behind scenes look at its creation.

As you can see below, we have both a video and a variety of photographs detailing how exactly they went about creating the Demogorgon and the horrifying moment it opened its five-fold mouth.

Season two of Stranger Things has already started shooting, but plot details are being kept strictly under wraps. While the Demogorgon is unlikely to return, we'll no doubt see some new creatures as the kids set off on a new adventure. It will take a lot of work to top this one though, that's for sure...

Cool to see the practical costume at work! As I was about the same age as the kids in this at that time, I have to say they really nailed the suburban feel of the early 80's. Great job of melding Stephen King, Steven Spielberg, John Carpenter and more into something that still felt new enough.

It's always cool to see how bring the "creatures" to life n'shit like that.

On a side note here's what the putties look like in Power Rangers reboot.

Hopefully the CGI will be better next season. Season 1 was great, but the special effects were kind of distracting.

Really interested with where they go from here. Absolutely loved the show and was expecting it to be a one season deal. Hopefully they have a story line that doesn't seem forced and makes sense! Especially with most of the season 1 cast coming back.

@LeonardTheWise - Agreed, not once did I think "is this practical effects?", it looked like cg for every second we saw it during the series.

Shouldn't that be "a combination of practical and CGI effects"? The term "special effects" covers both varieties...

This won't be popular but, for all of the amazing things that Strange Things was/is, I felt the demogorgon was the weakest part. Maybe it was the burrito looking wrap-face, an imitation Alien's chest-buster egg attachment, the strange flower looking expression or simply that it didn't emote well. But from the first time we get a glimpse I was bored with it. The final scenes with it didn't help either. That's not to say it wasn't a great set or practical effects meeting CGI, it just didn't grab me like I felt it needed to. To a kid maybe it was menacing. From the nostalgia angel it definitely felt like it belonged in an older film-setting. I don't know SMH.
