STRANGER THINGS Showrunners Reportedly Had "Meltdown" After Monopoly Set Revealed Major Season 4 Spoilers

The Duffer Brothers are reportedly fuming after Netflix gave the green light to a Monopoly set based on Stranger Things season 4 that has revealed significant spoilers for what's to come in those episodes.

We're used to leaks for massive superhero movies or for something like Star Wars, but this is a first for Stranger Things. THR (via FearHQ.com) reveals that a Monopoly set based on the show's upcoming fourth season has started hitting stores, and as a result, major spoilers have surfaced online.

We won't reveal them here, though you can find the full details on a now-viral Reddit thread.

The trade explains that while Netflix was unhappy with the mistake, Stranger Things creators, The Duffer Brothers, are livid. They weren't actually consulted about the game and both Matt and Ross are said to have had a "total meltdown" upon learning that the show's all-important secrecy had been breached. Keeping certain plot points under wraps has always been a big part of the series, but now, huge spoilers are out there.

One source at Netflix says that, "Lessons have been learned and, I expect, there will be more cohesion going into season five." In other words, they'll be more careful to make sure it doesn't happen again. Merchandise leaks happen, but in this case, it's a major blunder on the streamer's part.

In season 4 of Stranger Things, it’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time - and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.

"Volume 1" of Stranger Things season 4 arrives on May 27 and "Volume 2" follows on July 1.

@dracula - I'm guessing they are going to do a time jump mid season, maybe at the S4 part 1/2 break point… bc yeah six months doesnt make you look as old as they are, and next seasons gonna be even more jarring if they are still only 13 or 14 lol

@ReverseFlasher - This show had a pretty perfect 1st season, probably should've ended there or been an anthology series. But I guess Netflix got Funko Pops to sell.

Out of all things, its a [frick]ing monopoly sets that spoils things. Why even would a monopoly set have such info? Isn't it just houses, hotels, a bunch "pay this" or "receive this" cards anyway?
