Like many television studios nowadays, Netflix wants to fill the void
Game of Thrones will leave when it says goodbye early next year. Interestingly, Netflix has carefully chosen
The Witcher to take that role. But instead of adapting
The Witcher purely from the novels, the Netflix original aims to take aesthetics from the video games as well. The last we heard on the series, Netflix plans to debut an eight episode first season on the streaming service, with a premiere shooting for 2020. Production on the adaptation seems to be ramping up for a Fall start. As for who will play Geralt? Henry Cavill doesn't seem busy.
Speaking with IGN, Cavill commented on what he's been playing recently, later citing Geralt as an amazing role to play. It turns out, not only is he a huge fan of the games, Cavill loves the source material as well.
I just replayed [The Witcher 3] all the way through. Love that game. Really good game . . . [Geralt] would be an amazing role .. . The books are really, really good, the books I started reading, and they are well worth a read.
Since the
Man of Steel actor has nothing set on his resume for the next few years, fans might as well be all onboard for a casting like this. Netflix, this is your mission, should you choose to accept it.
