A Disney+ The Mandalorian spinoff based around the adventures of Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka Tano is now in development, and there have been rumors that at least two characters from the acclaimed Star Wars Rebels animated series will appear.
A recent report claimed to have confirmed that Lars Mikkelsen, who voiced Grand Admiral Thrawn in Rebels, will reprise the role in live-action for Ahsoka, while Aladdin star Mena Massoud will play Ezra Bridger. The latter actually appeared to tease the part on social media, and has now addressed this and the rumors surrounding his casting in a new interview.
Massoud says he was just "manifesting" in the hopes of landing the gig, but he does add that "there's not much more I can say about that," which may suggest that there is indeed something to the rumor.
"Yeah. Just manifesting, just manifesting, trying different things," he tells Screen Rant. "Yeah, there's not much more I can say about that, but, you know, I had heard murmurings that this role was coming up and this is becoming a real thing. So I just kinda wanted to throw my name in the ring and -- yeah, just part of manifesting what you want."
In the closing moments of the Rebels series finale, Ahsoka and Sabine Wren embarked on a mission to find Ezra after the young force-wielder was seemingly sucked into a wormhole during his battle with Thrawn. Though these events weren't mentioned specifically in Tano's episode of The Mandalorian, there were a few hints that she might be searching for answers during her confrontation with Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth.
We'll hopefully get some solid updates on Ahsoka soon, but for now, check out some impressive fan-art depicting Massoud as Ezra.
