STAR WARS REBELS Actor Jason Isaacs Wants To Play The Grand Inquisitor In A Live-Action Project

Scoob star Jason Isaacs has played a long list of villains over the years, but for Star Wars fans, his role as the Grand Inquisitor in animated series Star Wars Rebels is particularly memorable.

The Inquisitor's were game-changing additions to this Galaxy Far, Far Away, and while their leader ultimately fell at the hands of Jedi Knight Kanan Jarrus, there are ways his story could continue. After all, there are multiple projects in the works for Disney+ which take place before his demise, and plenty of villains - Maul, for example - have survived their apparent deaths.

Asked by Collider which one of the animated characters he's voiced he would enjoy starring as in a live-action setting, Isaacs initially suggested Superman (who he played in Superman: Red Son) before acknowledging that seeing people flying broomsticks in the Harry Potter films put him off from being strapped into a harness!

It was then he suggested the grand Inquisitor, and his explanation why was a simple one: "He has the coolest lightsaber in the entire Star Wars Universe."

He would certainly be a fitting choice to bring that villain to life on screen, but whether he'll ever actually get the chance is another matter. There are certainly places it could happen as we mentioned above, and the concept of the Inquisitors being explored in live-action would be a lot of fun.

What do you guys think?

He could have a better role than a henchman, if anything he could play the villain of a movie.

@dracula - He was hardly a henchman. Darth Vader was still below the Emperor on the hierarchy but you wouldn't call him a henchman.

I remember seeing him in that live action Peter Pan movie before Harry Potter. Loved him as Hook. He would be great for a live action version of the Grand Inquisitor

Shave his head bald and call him Professor X.

Also, definitely a villain in Star Wars.
