When Venom was released back in 2018, merchandise for the movie wasn't exactly easy to find. For whatever reason, that's now changing, with a Marvel Legends action figure filling the void for collectors of that line. Now, there's a new Hot Toys figure which is, quite frankly, staggering.
Even if you hated the movie, there's no getting around the fact that the detail on this bad boy is incredible.
Something that's bound to stand out to fans is that it comes with a number of "Venom Maws" which can be attached to the anti-hero's back. While imagery similar to this was included in Venom, it appears these may be based on ideas that didn't end up making the final cut.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage is set to be released next year, but we've yet to see anything official from that sequel. In the meantime, this definitely fills the void. You can check out a couple of images below, but for a more detailed look at the figure, make sure to hit the "Next" button!
Masterfully crafted based on the appearance of Venom from the movie, this screen-accurate vinyl figure measures approximately 38cm tall and displays a high level of detailed sculpting, especially on the texture of his skin and its fearsome fanged mouth and tongue. The figure introduces a body painted with black polarized paint that gives natural shiny glow from different viewing angles.
The figure also features two newly developed head sculpts featuring a grinning head sculpt, as well as a head sculpt with a fanged mouth and interchangeable protruding tongues. There are also interchangeable weapons and accessories including symbiote weapons and Riot’s symbio sword.
There are also multiple Venom heads which are attachable to the figure’s back spewing black liquid, matching hands for iconic gestures, and a movie-themed figure stand. Moreover, the Special Edition available in selected markets will include one additional Venom maw with symbiote accessory as bonus item exclusively for collectors, though expect that to be hard to find...or very expensive!
What's interesting about these Venom heads is that we didn't actually see them in the movie itself. It's an interesting visual, and one which essentially points to the symbiote being able to split itself into multiple parts. That could go some way in explaining plans for both Carnage and She-Venom.
The detail on this figure is phenomenal, and for fans of the 2018 movie, it's no doubt going to be a must-have. While many comic book purists weren't on board with the portrayal of Eddie Brock, the franchise is clearly here to stay, and it's going to be particularly interesting seeing what filmmaker Andy Serkis does with Venom: Let There Be Carnage (when it's finally released next year, of course).
