VENOM: Unused Concept Art Reveals Eddie Brock's Symbiote Battling Carnage, Toxin, And Anti-Venom

Some new concept art from Venom reveals that Carnage was set to target Eddie Brock's "other," while it seems Toxin and Anti-Venom were once being lined up as the film's big bad in place of Riot!

Venom debuted to mixed reviews and a huge box office haul back in 2018, and the sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, is set to be released in theaters next year after being pushed back.

In case the title didn't give it away, the sequel will see Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock battle Cletus Kasady, but concept art by Paolo Giandoso (shared by The Venom Site) reveals that Carnage was once set to be the first movie's big bad. The ideas here are undeniably cool, with some inventive action sequences and a giant Carnage who is absorbing the Venom symbiote.

There are also different, more sinister designs for Riot, as well as artwork depicting characters like Toxin and Anti-Venom (if it's not them, their appearances were seemingly set to be borrowed for Carlton Drake's symbiote other). "ANTI" was Venom's code name during pre-production and shooting, and not the identity of this character.

Hundreds of pieces of concept art have been shared by Giandoso, and while it's unclear whether any of these ideas will make it into Venom: Let There Be Carnage, we can't help but hope new director Andy Serkis has hired him for the sequel as there are plenty of killer ideas on display here.

@ChrisRed - so true, to spiderman, what batman the animated series is to batman, if only they had gotten 3 more seasons. Greg Wiseman planned 5 seasons covering his high school years and wanted to do direct to video films covering college

@dracula - Yeah if only...

If Disney really wanted to make many Spidey fans, they would let Wiseman continue the show where it left off.

Yes! Give us this Carnage with the black teeth, as Bagley originally intended. We need some better color distinction on this drab Sony-verse franchise.

i don't understand the enthusiasm for the symbiote spidey-villains. Give me the Ditko bad guys any day of the week.

so they decide to give us a generic boring instead of using the symbiotes to go wild. i get the feeling they wanted to keep them for sequels, even though they didnt have enough material; for one movie

I’m tired of the villains being the polar opposites of the heroes. Give me a villain with a different power set. The MCU has a bad habit of this. The symbiote vs symbiote thing has already been done, why not do symbiote vs mechanical, symbiote vs elemental or even symbiote vs magic? Anyone of those possibilities could be a success.

Man. I keep getting reminded that this film exists and is getting. A sequel. And NOW I’ve remembered we’re getting Jared Leto Morpheus... dammit

They should've sticked with the last design showing another symbiote face coming out from Carnage's chest.
