Kevin Tancharoen has just posted an instagram photo of what many are thinking is his version of Liu Kang in the 2nd season of Mortal Kombat Legacy. As you all know, Tancharoen has a penchant for wanting to go "realistic" with his Mortal Kombat world. So...naturally he seems to have made his version of Liu Kang into a drug addict. See for yourselves.

This comes as no surprise to those whom are regular twitter users as going as far back to August, Kevin Tancharoen had posted a tweet about Liu Kang stating-

"Liu Kang is NOT what you expect in season 2. You will be surprised. Now to figure out casting"

This was back on August 21st.

So what do you think CBMers? Will we be seeing the familiar Liu Kang we all know and love from the classic videogames? Or will he be...altered to fit the more realistic take Mr. Tancharoen is moving with his Mortal Kombat series?

Why can't these guys just make the blasted thing look fantastic like a comic? Sin City did it. Avengers did it. Lord of the Rings did it. Stop it with all this dull reality crap. If we wanted reality, we wouldn't be in a movie theater.

Mortal Kombat has been NOLANIZED. Lol. Jk.

All seriousness, just from Legacy, this series has been crap. The way some characters were introduced were just pathetic......Barack instead being some doctor who surgically embedded blades in his arms and made his teeth sharp, Raiden is some bummish-looking mental patient, Reptile being just some deformed cannibal........smh.

Are you guys being serious?

MORTAL KOMBAT :REBIRTH IS DIFFERENT FROM MORTAL KOMBAT : LEGACY!!!!

Stop trying to be an idiot by saying he goes "realistic" with his stuff. Sure, Raiden's story was different, but he went full mythology with Scorpion and Sub-zero, and even with Kitana and Sindel. Baraka wasn't a doctor with surgically grafted blades.

Really, the fact that some of you are so pompous and full of yourselves is a disgrace to the Comic book community.

And i swear if SageMode says "SMH" one more time, i'm going to go over and staple his shoulders in place. Seriously, get it checked by a Physiotherapist if you shake it that often.

For the record i love Tancharoen's mk universe. The scorpion/subzero episode was my favorite. I just happen to think his Liu Kang looks a little odd. But we'll just have to wait and see i guess. I love Mortal Komat, i have faith in Tancharoen. I simply agreed with SageMode that mk is getting a tad bit Nolanized, cause it is.

And @SageMode Was thinking the same thing."Nolanized" Definition- Taking something Cool and turning into utter Crap described as "Realism"

Somebody get rid of Tancharoen. His Mortal Kombat is NOT, I repeat, NOT Mortal Kombat. I want a fantasy Mortal Kombat. Sure, Legacy is good for what it is but that's it. But, if you can't get the pronunciation of a character or setting right, don't bother. Mortal Kombat: Rebirth is not even Mortal Kombat. Anyone who likes it is clearly not a Mortal Kombat fan. Kevin Tancharoen claims to be a Mortal Kombat fan and yet has been keeping it barely better than, Mortal Kombat: Annihilaiton. It's truly sad. They need to get someone who is passionate about the project who understands the universe inside and out and won't change things to make it realistic. MCU, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars and Harry Potter have shown that people will buy into a fantasy world. It's sad that Warner Bros. can't see that because of The Dark Knight trilogy. I swear, Harry Potter would have been nolanized if it weren't for J.K Rowling wanting complete control.

F*ck you Warner Bros! F*ck you, Kevin Tancharoen! You guys don't have respect for the property! Give it to someone who gives a damn. Mortal Kombat is my favorite video game franchise of all time and I refuse to watch it go deeper in the pile of shit they have created.

jesus christ, so everything in the future thats going for a realistic tone is now being referred to as "nolanized"? can we drop the whole [frick]king nolanite, nolanized and any other mention of christopher nolan? he isn't the only director in the world you know and the dark knight trilogy also isn't the only franchise so lets move on.

"Mortal Kombat: Rebirth is not even Mortal Kombat. Anyone who likes it is clearly not a Mortal Kombat fan"

^ That is where you lost me. So you have the authority to tell people they aren't fans of a franchise just because you don't happen to like it?

Look Lizard1, I understand your complaint and it's very valid. Some of Tancharoen's decisions regarding Mortal Kombat I dislike but overall, he's revived the franchise. After the last Mortal Kombat film, the franchise was left frozen in the tank. Tancharoen was the only one brave enough to actually step up, take charge and DO something about it. We may not understand ALL of his decisions regarding it but it is just something we HAVE to place trust in him with. If not him, I don't see the franchise going forward at all. He's pumping out the web-series and the new feature film. We just have to trust in him.

I've been a faithful MK fan since MK1 in the Sega Genesis days. I've always preferred Mortal Kombat over Street Fighter. I used to have the old-school G.I styled MK action figures. I'm a Mortal Kombat fan who happened to actually enjoy the web series for what it was- a revival of the franchise and displayed as if it was taking place right outside our windows.

Everything is going realistic nowadays. Acceptance is the first step towards recovery my friend :)

btw- I'm surprised 9 people have commented on this article, it's the first-look at Liu Kang in the web series and I STILL got ZERO thumb-ups. Lame. This should be front page. Oh well.

@UniBeam- You obviously have no concept of SARCASM. I was being SARCASTIC.

You can't seriously look at Liu Kang's eyes and tell me he doesn't look like a druggie. But that is neither here nor there, I was being sarcastic. Grow a sense of humor

LP4: I enjoy the web series for what it is too. But, Rebirth is my biggest problem. People really enjoy it, I don't see how. I know I must forgive and move on but it's burnt in my head and I can't forgive this guy for it and accept that this is the guy for the reboot. I'm thankful he revived a franchise I thought was dead cinematically but that's it. Tancharoen's vision for Mortal Kombat doesn't belong. If they do make the movie, I hope they give it another title so a pile of shit isn't associated with epicness.

Jesus Christ, I need to get back on my script.
