Amazon has renewed Secret Level for a second season following its inaugural success. The exciting show enters the world of various video games and features some of Hollywood’s most recognizable names. From Keanu Reaves to Arnold Schwarzenegger, the show has enjoyed an excellent start.

What should fans expect for the second season? Anticipate more content from the video game industry’s most popular franchises. While not much is public about the next episodes, some clues could indicate the future. Secret Level is a Blur Studio production, so let’s consider what the company has worked on.

Creator Tim Miller and Blur Studio have produced trailers for video game series like Batman: Arkham and PlanetSide 2 and contributed to films like Sonic the Hedgehog. The studio may be most famous for its cutscene work on Halo Wars, Halo Wars 2 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

However, this video game collaboration could be a pipe dream for fans. Miller recently said the team tried to get Halo on board for Secret Level but was unsuccessful.

Call of Duty is another notable Blur partnership, as the franchise has sold over 500 million copies. The production company has worked on the Modern Warfare series and Black Ops 6, crafting cutscenes and building narratives. Blur also contributed to character facial modeling and shot sculpting.

The experience of Miller and his colleagues could inspire episodes in Secret Level season two. In an interview with Variety, Miller said he sets a unique vision for how the show should be.

“I always feel very confident about that because I’m a nerd, so I’m trying to do what I would want to see as a nerd.”

Secret Level season two has a chance to produce an episode for a popular video game franchise that has yet to see a movie or TV adaption. Blur Studio has worked on Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City and San Andreas, opening opportunities for creative interpretation.

If viewers can learn anything from season one, the following season may emulate its most successful episodes. For example, fans lauded the Pac-Man episode because of its apocalyptic horror theme. Then, news broke about Shadow Labyrinth, a video game based on the Secret Level episode.

The Pac-Man episode makes you feel like you’re watching a horror movie — a testament to the show’s creativity and impact. Secret Level’s protagonists must consume to survive in their world and escape the maze. In Shadow Labyrinth, your character must do the same to progress in the alien-controlled universe.

Another hint for the next season of Secret Level could be video games debuting in 2025 and 2026. What could developers have on deck to promote? From Borderlands 4 to Doom: The Dark Ages, the producers have numerous 2025 options when developing episode ideas.

One of the most popular options would be The Witcher 4, which will release in 2026. The Witcher 3 eclipsed 50 million copies sold in 2023, making it one of the most popular video games ever. Could Secret Level adapt The Witcher into a part of its anthology series?

The show also has opportunities to create superhero content. Research shows these characters promote prosocial behavior, thus captivating audiences. While some protagonists may be unattainable, Secret Level’s relationship with PlayStation in season one could hint at things to come in season two.

Is there room for a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man? Blur Studio worked on the trailer for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2002 game and other Marvel productions. For instance, Miller directed Deadpool in 2016, while the studio contributed to Avengers: Age of Ultron in 2015.

Regardless of the inspirations, Secret Level fans are in for another exciting season of riveting stories. While the show has gained a fandom, the viewers have voiced their desire for longer episodes. For instance, the Mega Man installment is only eight minutes long. We’ll have to see if they listen to the fans’ wishes!

Turning this show into a marketing platform is the reason it underperformed... make it about games people have actually played

@UncleHarm1 - I don't disagree with that, but I do think it's inevitable. Getting major franchises to agree to begin featured in the show means that they'll want to be getting something out of that. Sometimes exposure is enough, especially for independent games, but in many cases I expect the games that will be featured are the ones that have something they want to promote.

@JackShawMod - You definitely have a point. I will admit I only watched like 4 episodes, the ones about games I've heard of so I can't attest to whether the others are any good.

Given that for me more than half were pretty to look at but worthless as stories I’m hoping for fewer but longer and more engaging episodes. Many really were no more than adds for games few to no one played. The PS one was awful and totally a waste of nice animation that could have gone into a longer Mega Man story, etc.
