I remember back in early 2006 when Marvel Ultimate Alliance was announced for release later that year. I was in 6th grade at the time and was HUGE into comics (which I still am). I saw the trailers for MUA and got more hyped than I did for the new Justice League game that also came out the same year. When Christmas Day came and I received Ultimate Alliance I didn't stop playing it for a solid 7 months. The disc didn't leave my original Xbox....like ever. Marvel Ultimate Alliance was a masterpiece.

The game not only introduced me to characters like Deadpool and Luke Cage, it broadened the horizons of the Marvel Universe, and I was able to play through all of it! Then Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 came out in 2009 and I was even MORE hooked. Adapting the Civil War storyline while maintaining the same level of gameplay as the first installation made MUA 2 all the better, which made the lack of announcement for a third game even more surprising. For 7 years, Ultimate Alliance 3 was no where to be found. I started losing hope that it would ever be made. Technically...it still hasn't been announced. But honestly after hearing this news, I couldn't care less.

During San Diego Comic Con, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2 were both confirmed for release on PS4, PC, and Xbox One by executive producer Mike Jones. The graphics and interface will have slight updates; according to Jones, the team wanted to "...be as faithful to the original Marvel Ultimate Alliance games as possible - the definitive versions...they play really smooth". So for those expecting a complete overhaul and remaster, you may be out of luck.

When asked if the re-release of the MUA games was the beginning of a new franchise, Jones said, "Following the footsteps of a proud Marvel tradition, I'll say: Anything is possible, true believers!"

The PC and PS4 versions released on July 26th, while the Xbox One version will be available July 28th. The retail cost for each is $39.99, however Activision has bundled both games for $60. There isn't information on whether or not the games will include DLC, but at these prices I really hope they do!

So what do you think of Marvel Ultimate Alliance coming to next gen consoles? Excited? Angry? Neutral? Sound off in the comments below!

@StarlordsDad - That's no good :/ but I agree these are extremely overpriced. Plus I've heard the DLC's aren't included but I'm not completely positive. I just want to relive my childhood, why does it have to be so expensive??

@MrStarLord -
Bet Kurt Russell controls Ego from the inside. Hopefully he's still J'Son maybe? Prolly not though. Starlord probably ends up hijacking Ego at the end and changing it to look like that Chris Pratt guy. Haha.

@MrStarLord - If the plot requires it ....uh I mean maybe. You are also to sleep with every alien the the galaxy and not get space siphilis.

StarlordsDad - 7/26/2016, 4:49 PM

Hopefully X-Men Legends will get a remake version too, because I personally liked those games more. That being said I do love old school top down RPGs and will have to play this series again.

@mtropolismrvl18 - Congratulations on your first article it is a good one. I look forward to seeing what you do next.

@BlackIceJoe - Thank you! I LOVED X-Men Legends too, those were some great games. Too bad we got that awful X-Men Destiny game later on.

@superherofan21 - Same! What if they start a Marvel Gaming Universe? They could use the new Spidey from the upcoming PS4 game...one can dream, right?
CaptainAmerica

I hope to god this means they're coming out with UA3. Was pissed when they decided to do Civil War in the sequel instead of Galactus invading Earth like the after credits scene suggested.

Uh, why not just do Ultimate Alliance 3
DeusExSponge
DeusExSponge - 7/26/2016, 4:52 PM
@thor2273 - Perhaps they're testing the waters to see if there's still any interest with this series.

On a side note, how is Spider-Man: Web of Shadows? I got it in a bargain bin.

DeusExSponge

We better get a Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 after this. No more MOBAs and mobile games!
Mercwitham0uth
Mercwitham0uth - 7/26/2016, 5:49 PM
@DeusExSponge - MUA 3 isn't going to happen. Activision lost the license to produce any new Marvel games a few years ago. Marvel is now focused on getting triple AAA developers to produce their games.
superherofan21
superherofan21 - 7/27/2016, 12:12 AM
@Mercwitham0uth - It's still possible. Marvel can always commission some other developer to make a potential MUA 3.
Mercwitham0uth
Mercwitham0uth - 7/27/2016, 2:54 AM
@superherofan21 - There already an MUA sucessor and it's called "Marvel Heroes" and it is far better than MUA.
