Like Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi, EA's first-person shooter Star Wars Battlefront 2 was also met with sharp criticism from many due to some questionable decisions made by the publisher/developer. To EA's credit, some of those initial decisions have since been addressed and now fans are looking towards the future of the game. EA offered a brief outline of what players can expect for the future of Star Wars Battlefront 2, and it actually sounds promising.

"We're working on a revamped progression system," EA revealed. "Your feedback has been essential here, and we are preparing significant changes to progression that will address many of the things we've seen players asking for. We'll be sharing more details about these changes in March."

As far as content, a new game mode called "Jetpack Cargo" will be introduced in February. This new mode, which will only be available for a limited time, sees two teams of eight players equipped with jet packs compete in Jetpack Cargo, "a frantic, fast-paced way to play."

Lastly, a new Season is coming soon. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait for specific details, but EA says they will share them "soon." On the bright side, they did promise that they are using what they learned from the first season and "integrating those insights into our plans moving forward."

This game is rad.

Don't be lured in to get this game. EA showed their hand on what this game was to them: a quick way to make a lot of money by exploiting the player base. It doesn't matter what they do to the game, I won't be buying.

@SupermansTrunks - Been playing it for 3 months since release (and MTX were removed on launch). Have no problems. Love the gameplay and been having a great time with it.

Have everything that I want unlocked and upgraded.

I hesitantly purchased this game. I understand the appeal of exclusive downloadable content but this game is nearly unplayable without it. I'm not the biggest gamer, but why do I only have 4 maps to choose from in Arcade mode if I wanted to play local co-op? Remember the OG Battlefront games had well over 12 maps and I never had to pay for any more. I'll wait for EA to figure this out, but these games should be so much more fun than this one currently is. What more, is it so difficult to improve on the level design of the maps in the previous game and just port them over to Battlefront 2??

- Rants from a non-gamer

@VicSage - And why would you buy this game, knowing that it's exclusively for the multiplayer experience?

Same with BF (2015). So many people bought it and complained there was no multiplayer when all it took was a single google search to check basic stuff.

@VicSage - What are you on about, can’t play the game without all the DLC? All the DLC is free and is downloaded to the console as soon as you turn it on, nobody has anything that you don’t....
VicSage
VicSage - 1/25/2018, 5:59 AM
@kylo0607 - Exclusively for the multiplayer experience? Was that the selling point of this game? I purchased this game believing there was a single player campaign in addition to going to various maps and having fun as a stormtrooper shooting down rebels. Is it just me, or am I limited to only a handful of maps when I want to do this with friends? One of the co-op modes only shows 4 or 5 maps for me to choose from, meanwhile, I have played Hoth and Endor by myself.. are those maps not available for local co-op????
VicSage
VicSage - 1/25/2018, 6:01 AM
@Chameleon - So, what you're telling me is that the game is 1/3 of a full game? Because there are so many things I'd expect to be on this game and they aren't. And I'm not talking about some wishlists from a crazed fan. Unless I just can't navigate their menu, I see no mode where I can play local co-op with friends on Hoth, for instance. Is this not available? If so, I'm open to being told where. If it is not included in the game, why not??
LEVITIKUZ
LEVITIKUZ - 1/25/2018, 6:56 AM
@VicSage - If it is not included in the game, why not??

Because EA. EA is [frick]ing retarded. EA is the worst gaming publisher in the world.

The reason BF2's sales dropped was because EA [frick]ed it over by having all the progression stuff in [frick]ing loot boxes.

EA rushed this game out because the reason why Obi-Wan isn't in it is because they haven't finished General Grevious. Both of which were suppose to come out at launch.

And don't get me started on the lack of skins. You want to play as Last Jedi designed Kylo Ren and Rey? Fork over $20 and get ass[frick]ed again by EA.

EA is the [frick]ing worst game publisher ever. They just are. I got BF2 for $35 because I refused to pay full $60 price. I will never buy a EA game full price again and probably will never buy another EA game again

@VicSage - Custom Arcade, not all of the maps are there yet but you can select how many enemys, how many lives etc, whether you can spawn as a hero straight away
kylo0607
kylo0607 - 1/25/2018, 9:43 AM
@VicSage - Again, why do you expect to get all of the things you are expecting, then NOT getting it and complain you didn't get it???

I mean, if did a basic research, you would have found the emphasis is neither on singleplayer nor co-op, but for multiplayer.

Yet you didn't do that, bought the game and now feel entitled to find out everything you wanted to be there isn't?

2018 everyone.
VicSage
VicSage - 1/25/2018, 12:22 PM
@Chameleon - Thank you for clearing that up for me. They plan on releasing more though? Good
VicSage
VicSage - 1/25/2018, 12:25 PM
@kylo0607 - Proud to say I'm the furthest thing from entitled. You're taking my criticism of the game far too seriously. I'm confused, honest to God, confused, as to why some maps are available in one or several modes except the very simple to use local co-op. There are literally some maps where I can play by myself, and some where, if I wanted a friend to play with me, are unavailable. I'm trying to figure out why making some maps available for local co-op would be such a leap for the dev team. Is it some logistical nightmare? I'm asking honestly. Because every shooter I've played before has maps available no matter when single player, local co-op, online co-op, etc.
kylo0607
kylo0607 - 1/25/2018, 2:44 PM
@VicSage - Because the devs aren't focusing on co-op, they are focusing on multiplayer.

LEVITIKUZ
LEVITIKUZ - 1/24/2018, 9:29 PM
I could literally write a [frick]ing book on why this game is bad.

It fails at pretty much every department except Fighter Squadron & Heroes vs Villains but even that has issues.

Galactic Assault is bad, the weapons are bad, match making is bad, map selecting is bad, the choices of characters to unlock is bad (Wookies for Clones, Rebels, & Resistance? Couldn’t throw any other Alien? A gungan on Naboo maybe?). The progression is bad. The Arcade is bad. The amount of heroes is bad. The customization is bad. The single player campaign is bad. The lack of bot offline gameplay is bad. No cosmetics is bad. Iden & all of Inferno Squad are bad.

This game says how it’s all eras. It’s just now no longer bad for the OT but bad for the prequels & sequel trilogies too.

There are only 2 canon battles. Crait (which is breathtakingly awesome) & Kamino from the cartoons.

This game is so [frick]ing bad. EA could’ve just updated the graphics of 2005 BF2 & it would’ve made for a better [frick]ing game

@LEVITIKUZ - I agree it's flawed but what do you mean "canon battles"? Wouldn't Hoth and Endor also count as canon battles?
LEVITIKUZ
LEVITIKUZ - 1/25/2018, 6:52 AM
@Nightwing1015 - The battle of Endor in BF2 is the Rebels stealing an AT-AT. That never happened.

And Hoth is just a really bad map and nothing like Hoth in the films. Like if you recall the first game, while I hated BF1 it handled the Hoth map perfectly in doing it's best to recreate the film. Hoth in BF2 is just nothing like BF1 or the films. You play as walkers and then it's a ground game inside the rebel base with no more walker play which doesn't work IMO
PrimitiveMan
PrimitiveMan - 1/26/2018, 11:19 AM
@LEVITIKUZ - I have to agree that EA is absolutely the worst. Not only wit how they degrading gaming (this game is a perfect example), but I was reminded how scummy they were by looking at GameStop's website because I was thinking of getting Sims 4 for PS4 used (because F- EA).

However what I saw shocked me. Not only did they have the base game, and the pre-order version, but they also have DLC/EP listed on the website. One would think that since Sims 4 came out so late on console compared to the original release on PC (and other Sims games) that it would have all the EP/DLC included in the base game, right?

Well, EA says F-U, and wants to charge console gamers access to the EP/DLC that should have already been packaged into the game. I mean, sure it might piss off PC gamers, but they've had the game for a lot longer than console gamers. They should be on parity at this when it comes to the EP/DLC, but they aren't. EA just wants to squeeze more money out of the consumer, even if the consumer doesn't have much cash.

EA is trying to bleed a rock, and it's disgusting of them. This Star Wars debacle made me want to boycott EA's games (or at least supporting them directly), but Sims 4 on console was the final nail for me. I'm done with EA, and will never give them another chance.

How is it Free Radical could make a Game people wanted, but LucasArts closed the game down, because they thought the game wasn't good, yet Disney thought this one was?

Nightwing1015
Nightwing1015 - 1/25/2018, 4:44 AM
@BlackIceJoe - It wasn't because they thought it wasn't good. It was due to a poor working relationship between Lucasarts and Free Radical. Lucasarts didn't pay them in time like they said they would and Free Radical ran out of money.
