VIDEO GAMES: Count Dooku Joins STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT 2 Later This Month With The Darth Tyranus Update

Star Wars Battlefront 2 may be over a year old now, but EA has no plans of ending support for the multiplayer game. Prior to the new year, the developer released a roadmap that outlined their plans for new content in early 2019.

Up first is the arrival of Count Dooku, who EA recently revealed will make his debut in Battlefront 2 on January 23 with the Darth Tyranus update. Disillusioned with the Jedi Order and thirsty for great power, Count Dooku voluntarily left the light side and became a disciple of Darth Sidious. He was a central figure the Clone Wars.

The Sith Lord highlights January's update, which will also include a second cosmetic appearance for the character, called "Dark Ritual," along with the "Coruscant Guard" skin for the Republic Clone Army. In addition to the new content, January is packed with special in-game events, including one going on this weekend.

January's update is in line with EA's push for Clone Wars content within the game. With that in mind, we can probably look towards the animated series for an idea of what the Dark Ritual and Coruscant Guard outfits will look like. As GameSpot points out:

Dark Ritual probably refers to the outfit Count Dooku wears in The Clone Wars Season 6, Episode 13 "Sacrifice" when he and Darth Sidious perform a Sith sorcery spell, called dark illusion, on Yoda. In terms of the Coruscant Guard, the show devotes several episodes to events that transpire on the city planet--most notably the trial of Ahsoka Tano arc in the fifth season--where we see clone troopers in red colored armor. The show refers to this specific clone army as the Coruscant Guard, making them the most likely candidate for the upcoming Battlefront 2 skins.

Looking further ahead, EA previously announced that Anakin Skywalker, one of the franchise's most iconic characters, will be coming to Star Wars Battlefront 2 in February. The arrival of Count Dooku and Anakin in Battlefront 2 follows the recent additions of General Grievous and Obi-Wan as playable characters in the game.

The Clone Wars have begun. Jedi hero Obi-Wan Kenobi and the new map Geonosis arrive in the latest update – free for all Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II players and available from November 28. Unlock the 212th Attack Battalion clone trooper appearances, more General Grievous and Obi-Wan Kenobi appearances, drive the new STAP and BARC speeder, and dominate the battle with the AT-TE walker.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The game is free on Xbox One and PC for those with EA Access or Origin Access membership.

Can't wait for Earl Dooku!

More than a year after release and I've been playing this since Day 1 (almost daily).

Huge SW fan and this is everything I've wanted from a SW game.

And in the last 2 months we've got Grievous and Obi-Wan, with Dooku and Anakin about to be added imminently. I mean, what more can you want?!

Despite the prequels' problems, I still like them. This reminded me of that. Obiwan Kenobi was so well done in them, as well as in the Clone Wars series. It makes it hard to completely give up on Star Wars, but then I remember The Last Jedi, and I have to.

Weird thing is, I think Rian Johnson was tying to create a parallel in Luke to all fans of everything George Lucas did. He set out to destroy Star Wars, and made us all have to give up, to isolate ourselves away from the new generation of Star Wars. Just like Luke.. Well, not just like Luke, but he probably doesn't see the difference.

Dooku was a pretty interesting character. I loved that scene in the Clone Wars in which the night sisters with their invisibility spell tried to kill him while he was asleep, and he defeated them.

A year later and I see the comment sections of Star Wars posts are still a dumpster fire.
