WONDER WOMAN 1984 Star Gal Gadot Says "It's Time To Move On" From The Past With WONDER WOMAN 3

Wonder Woman 1984 hits HBO Max this Friday (a little later than we would have liked), and while there's really no way for Warner Bros. to make anything other than a loss at this stage, the studio still wants a Wonder Woman 3. They believed the DC Comics sequel would make $1 billion at the worldwide box office, but this has been far from a normal year, and it seems unlikely the movie will break even.

They can at least to try and earn some money back, of course, and if nothing else, Wonder Woman 1984 looks set to drive a lot of new subscribers to the HBO Max streaming service.

It's hard to say whether Patty Jenkins will choose to return to the franchise given some recent comments, but Wonder Woman, herself, Gal Gadot, hopes to see the next movie move to the present.

"I think the present is the right thing," the actress told MTV News when asked about Jenkins' past comments that a Wonder Woman 3 would move to today. "I wouldn't go to like to the 60s or to the 40s with Wonder Woman. I feel like the past has been handled well and now it's time to move on."

There are certainly more tales that could be told in the past with the Amazon Warrior, but after seeing her team-up with the Justice League and become a publicly recognised hero, it's about damn time she came out of hiding. Unfortunately, it feels like we'll be waiting a while before we get to see that happen.

What are your hopes for a Wonder Woman 3?

@Spidey91 - It won’t come out for another 8 years and when it finally does, it doesn’t work on most TVs because they didn’t optimize for it

@Spidey91 - having tons of fun with the game btw. It's pretty buggy on PC but I can live with that. What I can't live with is the harmful crunch their poor employees had to suffer through. CDPR probably won't come back from this massive blow.

Great game tho

@Blergh - Lol yeah I'm on XBOX One and surprisingly, it hasn't been bad. I know that's a different story for other XBONE players though.

Wonder Woman vs Deathstroke!

@DARKSIDEIS - Idk, Deathstroke is more a street-level type of villain. Maybe bring back Ares to round out the trilogy.

Set WW3 after Justice League and forget the mess that film was! Have her save the Amazons from present-day Ares who has made the Amazons public enemies.

And then have a fourth movie that has WW go up against Aquaman & Atlantis in a crossover movie. "Wonder Woman vs. Aquaman" could certainly be a hit

@Blergh - It'd definitely be interesting to have Wonder Woman v. Aquaman. Kind of a spiritual successor to BVS

@TheMapleSyrup - well, only that this time the movie would actually be good lol

Seeing Patty (if she even comes back) needs a minimum of 6 months to shoot and a year and a half for post to not feel rushed and properly do a film...2 movies between this and Rogue Squadron, which hasn't even started production...she wants to cram the Amazon film between them...carry the 1...

Yup, 2026 sounds about right. That's how they slow roll the DCEU so not to reboot and keep their jobs. Ridiculous.

Blergh - 12/22/2020, 5:38 AM
@inkniron - depending on who pays her more. If Amazon can't match WBs price-tag anyone would switch projects and carry the penalty fee.

But with her recent words I'm not sure she'll even be the one to direct part 3. Might be that someone else takes over. If WB really wants to go the ultra PR route and bank on Gadot's public image they could give Gadot directing duties and have a producer shadow direct.

@Blergh - She can barely act to begin with. No way anyone would actually believe the director tag, even if it was in name only.
Blergh
Blergh - 12/22/2020, 5:43 AM
@inkniron - her fans surely would. Actors directing themselves and "branching out" is common practice.

Especially if WB can't win if Jenkins would be out. They won't get anyone the audience would embrace out side of Gal

@Blergh - has the shadow producer thing happened a lot?
Blergh
Blergh - 12/22/2020, 2:32 PM
@OmegaBlack13 - a producer having to take over for a director isn't unusual. They tend to do that during shooting anyways. A onset producer delegates and checks that everything is going to plan, that's why it's usually no big jump to also take over directing when the director is gone for some reason. Generally producer have almost as much say as directors but that varies from production to production, that's why the trio of director/producer/AD is the leading workforce.

Happened with Simon Kinberg shadow directing for Josh Trank and Bryan Singer.
But you don't hear these stories often as they tend to tarnish the directors name.

Man, the Wonder Woman reviews have been trending downward. Was close to 90% at RT when I last checked, but down to 81% as of this morning. Makes me wonder where it’ll land once reviewers start watching it at home.

inkniron - 12/22/2020, 5:38 AM
@Chewtoy - I'm reserving judgement, but the reviews that didn't like it, seemed to lean into my concerns. A couple of other things worry me greatly, but I'll hold my tongue until I actually see how or if they even explain it.

@inkniron - ive never had such mixed feelings about a movie before. I hated it but at the same time i loved it.
inkniron
inkniron - 12/22/2020, 9:19 AM
@DarkDetective - I'm not that way. If there is inexplicable BS, I immediately lose any love. There are a couple things that can work as typical comic tropes, that if they aren't handled right, will ruin it for me. I believe a couple of those are there but I'm not going to put my preconceived notions on front street, especially if someone reads them, goes in and recognizes it when they might not have otherwise, and ruin it for them. Ignorance can be bliss, but they're already in my head so, not much I can do except judge the final product. If they handle them well, I'll say so. If not...

Let's see how much Wonder Woman 1984 makes first,it's not going to make that money.

It might even go straight to HBOMAX.
