In an interview with IGN Movies, the young actress talked in detail about her role as the iconic X-Men villain in the upcoming movie and below are a few of the main excerpts. To read it in its entirety, be sure to click on the link below to head on over to the site.

On The Character Of Mystique:

Raven, or Mystique, is a shape-shifter and when she is in her natural, blue, scaly, red-haired form she also has super-human agility. She's young, and she's a normal teenager dealing with insecurities, but her insecurities aren't that normal. She's insecure about being a mutant, but she slowly grows to accept it and evolves into herself and starts to love it.

On Her Mutant Powers In The Movie:

She's been shape-shifting for a long time, but she's just recently learning about her superhuman agility. She discovers that in the movie.

On Playing A Good Version Of Mystique Before She Goes Bad:

Of course. I love characters that evolve and stories that evolve, and that's my favourite part about this entire film - every character goes through an evolution to get to where they are now. We know which side they are on, but with this movie we get to see why. That's what I think is interesting - she's not just a good girl gone bad, she's a good girl that's been hurt and kind of finds a resolve or comfort on this side that she really thinks is right. She doesn't think that she's going to the bad side or the dark side, I think that that was just what made more sense to her. Because at the end of it she realises that she can't get rid of it. She's tried to be normal her whole life, and this side supports and accepts her totally for who she is.

On Her Favourite Action Sequences:

Well originally the X-Jet, because turning around in the X-Jet is the most fun rollercoaster in the world. But we were there for about three weeks and by the end I just wanted to be out of it. But that was the most fun originally.

On Whether She'll Be Back For A Sequel To X-Men: First Class:

Yes, I'm having a blast - let's shoot them right now!

X-Men: First Class is set to be released in the UK on June 1st and in the US on June 2nd.

I'm very interested to see how this film turns out. Going on X-3, it can't do much worse. It was broke, so I hope they've fixed it.

@ Wolverine81 - Congrats on your cherry loss - just not sure how I feel being 'under' you when you say it!!

Huh, she looks good, but that child Mystique we saw in the trailers looked awful honestly!

Just saying lol, hope she'll be great in this awesome-sounding movie (not CBM unfortunately)!

she's a shape shifter, why can't she just change into a normal person and live her life normally? easiest of all the mutants

Lee and Marvel72 are just pissed 'cause Thor only made $65M it's opening week and will likely fall short of $200M domestically when it's out of theatres, both numbers that X-Men: First Class will surely beat!

It's kind of ridiculous to compare Thor box office numbers to First Class box office numbers. X-Men is already an established film franchise that people are already familiar with, so it already has an advantage. A larger box office doesn't mean a movie is better than one with a lower box office. It just means more people took a gamble on buying a ticket. I've purchased tickets to plenty of movies I didn't care for.

Of course Ranger, I'm just sayin'. But Thor's budget of $150M means the studio was expecting more, probably at least $250M, where X-Men's budget is $120M and they are probably expecting it to make $200M-$250M. There are 2 things to determine the success of a movie, how good it actually was and how much money it made while in theatres. Just sayin' X-Men has it beat in one of those two so far.

Also, being an established franchise doesn't mean that much, look at IronMan, both movies performed the same or look at Batman Begins, it was an established character but the Dark Knight destroyed it's numbers because the movie itself was more appealing to the masses, established franchise or not. There's also Avatar, Titanic, Star Wars....

Ryden@ I get what you are saying, though I don't know how you can say First Class already has them beat in one of the categories when it hasn't been released yet. We don't know how good it will actually be and we don't know what the numbers will be.

Being an appealing movie and being a really good movie are two different things to me as well. Avatar was appealing to me and I was extremely disappointed. I fell asleep during the Titanic and know many others who didn't care for either film. Just because people flock to see a movie, the ticket is already purchased. Box office cashes in on it because the film company put out great marketing campaign and trailer.

Taboo13@ Your comment doesn't even make sense based on what I wrote, but I guess that shouldn't be surprising.

I think Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy
are great as the main stars ... since it is obviously all about them. (:

I for one would like to see how Magneto and Mystique join forces against Xavier,
it adds a nice detail to the whole plot.

the original idea for this movie, the concept, was pretty good; but they [frick]ed it up with the awful roster choices. the trailers look "good" but I have little faith in this project. we'll just have to wait and see...

Taboo@ My point is don't try to lecture someone as to what they should think when you can't make any sense in doing so. And what is a Blamer??? Once again, you aren't making any sense.

Ranger, those movies I listed were merely examples of new franchises that did well. I felt the need to point those out in response to your, I thought, ridiculous statement that X-men has an advantage in Box office earnings(not being a better movie, we weren't talking about that at that point) because it is part of an already established franchise.

I am aware that we don't know how good X-Men will be or how much money it will make, so I jumped the gun on that one. I do however specualte that it will most definitely beat Thor in earnings and has a fair shot at being a better movie. Thor was fun to watch, but it didn't leave me thinking about it when I left the theatre. I hope that X-Men will try to be more than just a really good action movie. Time will tell.

Prog, haha, clever, throwing in that Thor quote. I thought X-2 was better than Thor, sorry. I liked Thor, but it wasn't a great movie by any stretch. Stop lying to yourself.
