Mark Millar is on a roll right now. First off, he has got his own successful movie franchises, including Kick-Ass 2, that he is getting off the ground, as well as helping Fox Studios do something with their Marvel properties. Earlier this morning he commented on how he is working on bringing Fox's Marvel character together in what is being described as a cohesive universe, but didn't want to make a mess out of the situation, with characters just showing up randomly in each others films. While it's not a total surprise Fox's venture towards a shared universe will happen with next year's The Wolverine. Millar hasn't worked much on The Wolverine, but said he has read the script and sees it as the same opportunity that Marvel did with Iron Man.
"I felt like 'Iron Man' was really the beginning of something for the Marvel Studios movies, and 'The Wolverine' will be a similar starting point to build a lot off of for the Fox movies," Millar explained. There has already been rumors that Famke Janssen has filmed a scene for The Wolverine as Jean Grey.
Millar also talked about Matthew Vaughn leaving X-Men Days of Future Past. It has been said by Millar that Vaughn dropped Days of Future Past to work on the movie adaptation of Millar's Secret Service. Bryan Singer will step in and fill the void left behind by Vaughn, and Millar is thrilled.
"When Matthew decided he wasn't going to do the sequel, they just switched places with Matthew producing and Bryan coming on to direct. That's got nothing to do with me, but I'm delighted that Bryan and I will get to work together over the next few years," said Millar. He went on to say the he is also excited to work with Josh Trank on the new Fantastic Four reboot, and that he has a lot of fun and exciting ideas for the rest of the characters that Fox has the rights to.
