Chris Claremont regarded by many as the premiere X-Men writer has told
nycgraphicnovelists.com that he has read the script for the up coming sequel
The Wolverine by
The Usual Suspects Academy Award-winning screenwriter Chris McQuarry and gives his seal of approval.
“[I like it] very much,” Chris says. “That’s all I can say. Chris McQuarry is brilliant.”
The movie is said to be based on the classic 1982 Wolverine mini series/graphic novel written by Chris Claremont and drawn by Frank Miller. The story is primarily set in Japan and involves Logan's sweetheart Mariko, her gangster/ninja father and Yukio a female assassin who works for Mariko’s father but also loves Wolverine. It features lots of battles with ninjas as you can imagine.
The movie was due to start shooting in July this year, but the original director Darren Aronofsky left the project in March and has now been replace by
Knight And Day director James Mangold. It is expected to start shooting before the end of the year. No cast members have been confirmed except Hugh Jackman in the title role of course.
