Those are really ugly. Why would they be 8-bit when this episode features the characters entering a 16-bit game?

Also, by ‘97, 32-bit systems were the norm. I guess they wanted to go with a 2D side scrolling SNES style game vs a 3D blocky looking PS1 style game.

@dragon316 - PS1 launched in North America in 95 and even Nintendo 64 had come out by 97.

@mountainman - As @DrReedRichards said, the framerate trick did it to me. I really thought the animation would be like in What If, which would be a big no-no IMO.

@dracula - It's not frame by frame oldschool animation but I gotta say it's WAY better than I thought it would be, when I learned they would be going for 3D toonshader.

@Fogs - I hate the What If animation. Sure it’s smooth and “pretty”, but it feels lifeless and seems like it is trying too hard to look like live action. Every character looks bored all the time and never expresses emotions.

Me: Base it off of the original arcade game, which was for the original failed pilot anyway, it's inspired so much. ("Magneto, welcome...to die" - Deadpool MvC3)

@The1st - The OGs in that arcade were Colossus and Nightcrawler. Best multi player side scroller ever, even beating out the TMNT ones.

I'd like to get the Spiral one, always thought she had a great design and she was even playable in one of the Marvel vs Capcom games from back in the day.
